Is there a CP omni thats compatible with the 1.2Ghz Lawmate RX yet? I have diversity for those close "thu the park, exploring" flights.

Yes. All are compatible. My problem was my OSD, not the Lawmate RX.

So I CAN use a clover leaf circularly polarized rx antenna on a Lawmate 1.2Ghz Rx?
I thought they shorted lawmate 1.2Ghz receivers.

Just to let you know IB it still says "These work with ALL TX/RX sets except the Lawmate 1.2GHz receiver." on your site.

That was a guess from Sander. It turns out it was a problem in my OSD. The problem is that my video feed with the CP antennas was so strong that the video got saturated and lost synchronization. I added a resistor to the video line and the problem was fixed.

Sure it would work, but I wouldn't know how to build it accurately. Try a skew-planar wheel or a helical. Those can be built much more accurately for 5.8GHz than a ground plane antenna.

I may be wrong, but isnt this essentially a Vee, with 3 (or 2 if three elements used) more "directional" patterns. If you remove all but one ground element , its a Vee, angled slightly upward (or downward)

So, you say a Vee is better in the air. How different, and what are the differences in radiation pattern of this antenna as opposed to a regular Vee?

It seems, that maybe this antenna would be a bit more omni , and just as effective in the air as a Vee. However, as I said, I may be wrong. Just curious!!

Not really a Vee. The ground elements act like a reflector rather than a counterpoise as they would in the Vee. The grounded elements tend to drive the signal upward toward the driven element.

On the other hand Thomas Scherrer uses a ground plane antenna on his aircraft.

I do not have a clue how to mount this antenna on a quadcopter upside down
If it is on the top of the quad, radiating downwards, it will most possibly mess the GPS. And there is no such space below the quad to mount it there. Anybody having a pic how it should be mounted on a quad?

It is supposed to be an RX antenna. If used on a quad it would need to be upside down.

Ahh. okay.

However, I intend to use it for my video TX on my quad.

I understand that you intend to use it for ground station. But what is TS using it for on his quad, if not video TX? If it is for video TX I am a bit confused about how to mount it to avoid jamming the gps.

Thomas uses his as a TX antennas. He just mounts it upside down.

TX antenna for boosted 2.4?

I'm using a 1w boosted 2.4 FrSky. I would like to know if I might see any improvement using this antenna over a stock dipole?

Thanks
