Is there a difference between the CP1700 and 1700AE cells?

I was playing around in Motocalc, and I noticed that it didn't have any CP1700s, but it had 1700AEs, which appear to be similar in weight and seem to be able to pull the 30 amps that my motors will draw.

Some of you may recall that I was initially using zapped RC2400s, but once I got my hands on Motocalc, I realized that I wouldn't stand much of a chance flying a model with a 33 oz/sq ft. jet! With the 1700AEs, I'm down to a happy 22 oz/sq ft , while maintaining a 0.79 to 1 thrust-to-weight ratio.

1700AE is a long discontinued cell. The CP-1700SCR is a completely different cell.

Why is 33 oz/ft^2 an issue?? you dont' fly jets slow anyway, and I doubt you will be handlaunching.

The 1700AE is nothing like the CP1700SCR. The AE is good for no more than 15A, the CP1700SCR is yet to be determined, but it will be at least 50A.

Does anybody have CP1700SCR's available yet? I've decided eight of them are Just The Thing I need for my MM-powered E-Streak!

Greg, I agree that jets are supposed to be fast, but I want to get into the groove of flying fast and without a lot of power. Don't forget, I'm an ex-slimer pilot, and I'm used to have energy to spare in tight turns and consecutive loops. Not that my jet is underpowered or anything, just that I want to start out slow. By the way, what is "slow" for you jet pilots? Slow for me is about 40 m.p.h.

Well, I found some CP1700s for about $2.50 per cell in quantities of 10 or more. It sounds like a bargain to me, since I recall some places selling them for as much as $6.00.

I e-mailed the guy yesterday, and as of yet he hasn't responded. When he does, I'll order my batteries and share the link with you. Deal?

Make sure these are the CP1700SCR and not the older 1700SCR.

Which model are you building?

OK, Steve, you've blown my cover! Now watch Batt-Mann sell out of these by next week

Greg, I'm still building that Su-34 twin, but it's painfully slooow. It's a balsa plug though, so it won't hurt me as much if I crash

That's odd... You think maybe I should call him? Is it a possibility that he can't read English? In any case, I'd go out of my way to contact this guy if cells are only $2.50

Well, I was overly accomodating. I sent the e-mail in english and German. I used Altavista's Babelfish, so for all I know it could have translated to, "Hi, I would like to buy some clams to beat you over the head with."

Haldor: You're just too kind! You've helped me with virtually every aspect of my plane! I hope I'll be able to return the favor some day. As for batt-mann, he hasn't responded, so hoellein gets my business.

Thanks again,
