** Update 12-24-2010** Unfortunately we will no longer be offering ARF kits. Only Standard kits (completely un-built Depron kits) will be available until further notice.

We are please to be offering all hand built ARF kits along with our standard kits.
And since we do not have assembly instructions for the ARF versions I am doing this build log for those who purchase one.

All ARF kits (Nanoshark or Babyshark) will now include the colored tape pre-applied in random color schemes. If you send me an e-mail when ordering I can let you know what choices of color schemes are available for immediate shipping. Otherwise special requests may take extra time.

Hey Danjuan

The standard (un-built) laser cut Depron kit goes for $29.99 + shipping and these will continue to be available. There are no plans on stopping those at all.

As far as the ARF's or RTF's are concerned.. unfortunately we will not be continuing them. My time needs to be focused on new product development to expand our line of planes.

Well Im glad to see you back in the game..and new planes from Nanoplanes will definitely be a treat.
Looked like there was a bit of interest in the arf's on Ed3's thread.
Almost pulled the trigger on one.However ,having built three of your models ,I look forward to getting another one on the shelf.

I'm glad you like our planes. I know you've built some of our planes in the past and I'm sure you're a great builder and flyer so I know you'll like the changes of these designs.. they fly much much better than the old Sharks.

Make sure they are both in neutral and the servo arms are in the correct position when powered on. Views: 293 Plug in both servos and set your radio to flaperon or use a Y connector. For flaperon, plug in the right servo into Aileron and the left servo into Auxiliary Views: 263 After confirming that you have a right and left orientation of the servo arms, next you need to cut off the mounting tabs. Views: 286 Next find the little piece of wood. It is included to make the HXT 500 servos a tight fit in the servo cut outs in the wing. Wrap it with masking tape. Views: 260 Wrap it tight. OR if you use Hitec HS-55 you can skip the wood. They fit perfectly. But still wrap it for protection from glue. Views: 263 Insert the servo with the arm pointing down. The wire will tuck nicely into the slot. Views: 274 The servo Arm will be pointing out from the bottom. Views: 283 Both completed sides. Views: 255 Glue the servos in. Be careful to to get glue in the gears of the servo or near the servo arm. Views: 264 Lay out the pushrod to line up the position where you need to make a hole for the micro control horn. Measure and drill at 3/8" from the HINGE line. Views: 261 Install the included Dubro Ez-Connector and the Micro control horn. Use the furthest hole on the servo arm and the middle hole on the control horn Views: 242 Now on to the tail...

Views: 234 Insert the horizontal stab assembly and ensure that it is square to the fuselage. Views: 234 Flip it over and you will find a little piece of foam that is binding the elevator down movement. Views: 247 Trim it off Views: 245 Prepare your elevator servo to make sure it is neutral with the arm to either side at 90 degrees. Views: 230 Glue in the control horn at this point. Views: 214 Install the elevator servo in on the underside of the fuselage. It is installed upside down. Use hot glue to secure it. Views: 221 Use more hot glue on the top side to add strength. Remember this view is the top of the fuselage. Views: 213 Prepare 2 stacked pieces of scrap 6mm depron for securing the elevator pushrod tube Views: 218 Glue the scrap piece of foam in between the servo and the elevator. Place it a bit closer to the elevator rather than the servo. Views: 210 Place a piece of tape to secure the elevator into neutral position Views: 214 Cut a groove in the foam so that the pushrod tube can sit deep inside it. DO NOT GLUE IT IN YET! wait until later steps.

Views: 255 Make a Z bend where you marked the position on the pushrod. Views: 209 It should line up perfectly if done right. If you made a slight error then you can make adjustments by opening or closing the large Z-bend in the middle of the wire. Views: 228 If you insert the pushrod into the 3rd hole You may notice that it is a bit loose. To tighten it up you can use a little piece of thin shrink tube. Views: 220 Reposition the servo arm after shrinking the shrink tube Views: 221 Before you proceed, connect the servo to your receiver and confirm that it is neutral and moving the elevator without any binding. Views: 230 Neutral position should look like this Views: 220 Now you can glue the tube into the groove of the scrap foam once you have confirmed all everything is working and correct. Views: 215 Glue on the bottom rear cover Views: 239 Prepare your motor, bend the wires back. These wires tend to lean forward. Views: 223 Place the screws into the hole first. Views: 242 Then line up the motor and begin carefully screwing it it.

Views: 207 Glue in the battery hatch assembly by only gluing the front part. But first test fit the whole thing in to find the correct alignment. Views: 225 When shut it should be flush with no noticeable. gap where my finger is touching. Views: 205 Sand all the edges of the bottom rounded. Don't sand too much just lightly round the sharp edges. Views: 221 It should look nice and smooth Views: 203 Sand the whole bottom down to the tail area Views: 234 Now on to taping the fuselage. Use clear packing tape and apply it over the length of the fuse. Views: 219 Make sure that there is some overhanging tape along the bottom. There is no need to have coverage over the upper half Views: 222 A closer look showing the tape does not need to cover the top half of the fuselage. Views: 237 The horizontal stab will be in the way to cover all the way to the end. Views: 218 Just trim around it. Views: 197 Cut the overhanging tape around the area at the beginning and the end of the battery hatch opening. Views: 200 Cut the overhanging tape into tabs and wrap the tabs into the fuselage. You should have at least 1/8" to 1/4" wrap into the fuselage.

Then wrap all the remaining tape down over the edges Views: 209 It should wrap easily over the edges. Views: 215 Now on to the front. Views: 209 Trim away the very front with scissors or blade. Views: 221 Make fold over tabs by cutting out tabs on the overhanging tape. This action will allow the tape to cover the edges without wrinkles. Views: 205 You should be able to wrap the tape over the edges one tab at a time and have no wrinkles. Views: 185 If there is any tape hanging over the tail it needs to be trimmed. Views: 191 A simple slice with a pair of scissors will take care of that. Views: 204 Tape the inside edge of the battery hatch to secure the tape that was wrapped in from the edges.(Blue tape used for reference only) Views: 200 Lay out a strip of tape over the front bottom including the battery hatch Views: 200 Cut tabs on the front piece to wrap around the edges Views: 198 Trim off the corners of the overhanging tape since it will not wrap around nicely due to the rounded edge there.

Views: 186 Wrap the tape over the edge into the inside. Views: 199 Wrap the battery hatch again with more tape. (Blue tape used for reference, you should use clear tape) Views: 178 Wrap it around and pay attention to the edges and tape into the step on the sides. Views: 180 Continue this process with more tape Views: 181 Again wrap it around. Continue this and cover the whole battery hatch. Views: 182 Done with clear packing tape your should look nice and be strong. Views: 213 Now tape the bottom rear portion. Views: 193 Cut a slit where it tapers in at the tail end area. This will prevent wrinkles in the tape. Views: 184 Cover the tape over the edges again. Starting with the tail end area then move to the longer piece. Views: 188 It should wrap around easily here without any tabs cut out. (some concave curves do not need those tabs to cover without wrinkles.) Views: 181 Trim the edges of the over hanging tape so that it will tuck into the fuselage easily.

Views: 220 Now you are done with the tape! whew! Views: 182 Now for the remaining top pieces. Views: 185 Test fit them so we can sand the edges. Tape around were the wing will sit. Do not sand between the tape. Views: 186 Use the wing as a guide to see where to tape. Views: 187 Sand the edges lightly to round them as you did the bottom edges. Sand only behind the tape. Views: 175 In order to sand the front edge you may need to hold down the front with your thumb. Views: 174 Lightly round the edges. Views: 179 Nice and smooth. Views: 223 Remove the top pieces and test fit the main wing. Press it all the way into the slots. Views: 190 You will see that there are gaps on both sides.

Views: 187 So you need to cut a slot for it to sit flush in the fuselage wall. Views: 191 Now the wire will tuck down and the top cover can seat properly. Views: 184 Remove the wing and use Thick Foam safe CA on the fuselage sides where the wing will join the fuselage. Views: 202 install the wing again. FULLY seat it in the slots. Then pull the fuselage sides out to fit the wing. Hold until tacked then spray accelerator. Or ask someone to help. Views: 203 Apply more glue to the bottom joint. Views: 215 Finished wing installation. Views: 241 Install the ESC.... Views: 205 Extend the long hole by cutting away about 1/4" to 1/2" more at the forward side. Views: 202 This will give more room for the battery plug to reach the battery. Views: 274 The completed electronics installation. Don't glue the top pieces on so that you can retain access to it. Use tape...
