Venom VMX 450 1/4 scale Dirt Bike
We are starting a new thread with the bikes name in the title so people can find info easy. The VMX will be released in December, no specific date given.
Here is a photo of the new Supermoto SMR racing tires and the Disk Brake kit installed on the VMX. Some people have asked about this set up so I'll be posting some photos. |

Front tire and insert are SMR specific, so is the rear tire and insert.

A couple more showing the chassis and the brake servo installed neatly in its pocket.
The front brake is really powerfull and if you use a metal gear high torque mini servo you will have the power to stoppie. The motor and ESC wires are a little long but this was done to make it easy to install and connect them together from a produciton standpoint. There is a built in wire tie spot to tie the servo wires and the motor wires at the same time. You can also see the MTCS insert marked A and the range of adjustment the rear shock has. |

You can also see the front axle is hollow and the lower legs clamp the tube to keep things aligned, this is straight from the big bikes!
You can also see the functional radiator shrouds which allow air to pass but keeps stones and desbris from hitting your ESC. Notice the ESC has a low profile heatsink with the fan mounted within it. |

Nice Pics!
Does it have some sort of Crashback System, or is the whole frame bending in a crash? The CoG looks fairly high, with the Motor above the Swingarm. Can't wait to see it live and watch it drive! |

The CG is not bad, the battery pack is right next to the motor standing vertically and the rear wheel is heavy so it averages out to be very stable. If you wanted to you could lower the ESC by cutting away the side motor detail cover or something but that wouldnt make that big of a difference. When you drive the RTR you will notice its set to be soft all around. This is done to help you learn to drive it. Once you know what to do or if you already know then you can change the oils out to your liking. After much testing the best adjustment you can make is to the steering damper by chaninig the oil to about 60wt from the stock 30wt. This will increase the responsivness and reduce head shake. I would suggest leaving the suspension on the soft side especially the forks. |

Here is the Steering Damper.
This is the not so busy side of the VMX chassis. You can mount a transponder here no problem. The battery pack compartment has ventilation and plug access from this side also. |

Cool pics!! Venom site updated, now this. I really hope that December is IT. Think of all the sad kids on xmas day crying if they didnt get a VMX. I know I'll be one of them and it would look ugly.
![]() NOOB question: So with the oil filled forks, can the compression/rebound be setup similar to how shocks can use different pistons to manipulate rates. The rear shock looks nice with the threading but it seems a little small to me compared to size of bike. If there was an aftermarket big bore shock that worked, what benefit would it have if any? |
