Haven't towed it yet, I need another pilot to tow me Hand thrown it flies very well, and to my eye flies about same as the ones in the vid, maybe a touch faster. The KF style wing worked out great stiffness wise too. Overall I'm pleased!

My buddy here at work did a backflip when he saw it, so now he's coming over tonight to build one. This is fun! Looking for the next design to build, any ideas?

I can make laser cut kits available if anybody is interested.

Success! My fears were unfounded, the T-28 tows it fine. The glide is nice and slow, and wing flex is minimal. On to the next design. Fun!

Congrats!

How will it handle on towing. Was it easy? Our towing was very easy... no need to touch the sticks until relase.

Kimmo,

It tows great, no need to touch the sticks with this one either. Release required nothing more than slowing the towplane. A crazy person might be tempted to trim the Blanik for a slight turn, tow it up solo, release it and head for the deck, then grab the other transmitter.

For towline I used some heavy kite string with a bit of ribbon at the tow end. I'm not sure if it needed it or not but it looks good. The heavy string is a bunch of drag for sure, I'm going to try some light monofiliment. I flew the T-28 around first before towing and I could feel considerable drag.

Hi Shawn

Here is what I'm thinking.

Blanik L13
38" W.S.
40 gms (approx)
ParkZone 3-4 channel brick
  • Laser cut 3mm Depron airfame
  • Laser cut 3mm Depron dihedral fixtures
  • Laser cut 1/64 ply control horns and pushrod guides
  • .125 carbon tow hook
  • Instructions

I need to figure out boxes/shipping, but I think I can do them for $25 + shipping. If anyone is interested, drop me a PM.

Alien Tech,
The Zogling hit the ground on a bad high-start attempt and was totaled. I'm currently working on a slightly different design from the 50's or so called "Drifty", about a 20" span, still a primary glider though.

Allen_Tech, congratulations on your Blanik, very neat, and sucessfull aerotow.
Can we have a video?

Yellow Baron, the Drifty is like this one?: http://cgi.ebay.com/TERN-AERO-CO-KIT...-/190462200405

Working on a new glider, about 30", to test aerotow again.

Have good flights.

All I have is an iPhone and it's pretty crappy video with no zoom. Let me see what I can do.
