I am sure you have heard of IRKS
http://www.irks.org/ They are a very well orginized group, even have guys that will give you flying lessons. I don't belong but I have met a number of them and they are nice and knowledgeable. They meet in Melbourne the third Wednesday of the month (Info is posted on there site) They have a big flying area set up at the Dump in Cocoa. Good Luck |

Go to BCC south campus. Just south of the aquatics center is a big open field. Lots of people fly there. If the police are using the driving pad you use the grass on the north side or take off from the street. You can use the pad if it is not in use.

the Compound Flying Field is 27.931031,-80.705683 on google , we are all cool out there and if you feel nervous about other fliers you can just change to a different field , there is literally nothing out there but Us pilots and some atv's , the easy way to get there is to take sapodilla which is the last road with a road sign and it ends into the parking area.
And we do fly practically Everything out there. The Compound endless flying fields is at 2607 Wishbone Ave SW, Palm Bay, FL 32908 the 7-11 a few miles back is the closest public bathrooms but its endless fields. You can just pick a spot or go to the exact address. this area does not require AMA but its responsible to have such anyhow just incase since it offers you insurance. also Fred Poppe Regional Park, 1951 Malabar Rd, Palm Bay, FL 32907 a great place to fly. Most fly at the Cricket field. Its where I take my water birds as they have a large lake very close to the flying field. I fly here all the time. also There is also a club at X59 at the valkaria airport I have not been but i hear its awesome from fellow fliers. 2865 Greenbrooke St, Grant-Valkaria, FL 32949. This is my Alt spot and water bird when not on a river. If you fly off the River make sure you fly with the water currents and winds blowing toward your flight area, this stops your plane from drifting away should you encounter a problem and are stuck out in the water. Its not recommended to fly the beach or any Campus. |
