Anyone used this from the store, it's a copper sheet in 12x12 made to create circuit, the sheet is made of plastic but the front is a thin copper sheet.

Will this work?

Tested mine 2km only so far and works 100% not a single drop of the video strength ! My wife was the test bunny reporting the results.

Q: Can I use this antenna for a ground-based UGV? Like a FPV rock crawler?

^Your second diagram is it. Take all of your elements and rotate them 45 degrees (in the same direction) for best results as well as a pretty cool look. I have radiation plots and such for this antenna. Plots courtesy of HugeOne

I just finished building the Bi-quad for 910 mHz and was researching to see if a Tupper ware container could be placed over it without impacting performance (found the answer was "shouldn't"). However, I noticed others have the active element shielded all the way to the antenna--I didn't. I used an N connector chassis as basis of the build. Is this a fatal flaw?

My 1280 BQ is in sterilite. 11km and counting. I think Alex said keep a certain distance like a wavelength but I don't remember for sure.

I will let Alex correct me, but i think your center conductor will not work like this, the feed starts as soon as it leaves the shield of the cable, so you have 2 element running parallel with each other, that antenna will not give you good result at all.

sorry

Would he be able to fix it by adding a piece of brass tube in place of the shield? It would be soldered to the connector.
