Hi Alex, please, is it OK to cover resonator with plastic cover - in this example I used plastic box from Carte D'or ice cream ? Or it will damage the antenna gain or characteristics or all together...

I do not think there are problems, it's just plastic!

5.8ghz Biquad

Hey, I freaking love this Antenna, I built one for these Biquads for 5.8ghz. I'm

Running one of your clover leaf antennas on my Transmitter, and this biquad, on

the receiver. Its flawless video, I haven't found the limits yet. Iv'e been out over three

miles and not a blip. My Dad has access to a network analyzer. These are the

results of my Biquad. -20.60dB and a 1.2swr

That cover is fine. Good idea, actually.

Make the figure 8 as best as you can in measurements..
Then tune it by moving the figure 8 up and down from the reflector plate

Pcb active element?

Has any one made the active element from a etched pcb trace. I am considering making the bowtie for 2.4ghz by etching on a pcb. I see a lot of commercially made antennas use this method. Will it work as good as 14-16 awg?

Thanks

I've made two biquads for my 1280mhz diversity setup. For medium range flying (1-3 miles) what do you think is the best way to mount these both to my tripod? I'm thinking side by side angled up slightly of course and also so that each antenna's 50 degree beam overlaps the other by a few degrees? I don't have a tracker.

I would say this is an acceptable system. In fact, this is exactly what I personally use. I angle mine at 45 degrees up with a 20 degree tilt
