SPEEDSTER 78/40/26/20"+ 3.0/4,8M+ FOX 40/70"+ SWIFT S1 glider build.

Fox, Microglider

After creating many foam semi scala micro gliders, I decided to create a high performance version of one of those little beauties.

Mdm 1 Fox became the model to be built
It will be 100 Cm (38 ") span and with solid balsa wing.
I just tried building method on a version of Warhead 30 and it kicks ass.

Flew with Warhead Wednesday, in 30 two 38 knots wind on a 200 feet coast slope, and it was a small rocket, loops 300 feet high and had the same speed as Valenta Destiny , and Friday flew it in 16 knots on our inland slope, wery nice plane.

Started on the fuselage thursday evening, and here is the Fox until now.

Wow! Is that what they call the lost foam technique?

Very cool! Did you use Acetone the remove the foam?

I use cellulose thinner, but acetone would also have done the job.

Today I also have made the pushrod for the elevator, and done the canopy locking + made some fake markings of the rudder. + made some S7012 8,75 % airfoil Templates for the wing.

Tomorrow i will get the wood for the wing

Very cool! I would love to see more about your technique for getting an accurate airfoil on the solid balsa wings.

Great build vids. Lovely workmanship.
As Johann says- you make it look so simple!

I see you use the excellent Hextronic 900 (9grs), I've used many of these for smaller models up to 60" (Swingers, Guppy, X-centric) with very few failures.
Great value servos-$2.69ea.!!

Looking forward to seeing the flying video- should be quite soon.

I make some cardbord templates of the airfoil (4) and start with a small plane, then sanding paper on a flat piece of metal and just sand it to the right shape using the templates as a guide.
There is also sanded 1,5 mm washout in the wing.
For me its easy and fast, compare to making a ordinary wing.
(This is just the 2. wing that I have done in this metode)
And the balsa i use is medium hard, and it feels like a strong wing for a glider in that size. (1 meter).
And this is the size of the balsa that we can get in Denmark.

Just do it

Yes great servo.
I have over 40 in servise now, all from wing aileron servo on a slow 3 meter Cirrus glider, to all the servos in electric planes, and nearly all my planes have one inside for thottle or tow release.
(I always have 10 of the 900 and 10 of the 5oo in stock for new projeckts)
