USS Iowa

Looked for other threads that talked about this and couldnt find anything but It's looking like the USS Iowa may be coming to San Pedro, CA. with possible approval by Thanksgiving this year. I believe they are waiting for approval of the Port of Los Angeles to place it in a slip that will accommodate its size. If all goes as planned it will be towed down from San Francisco area, then it will take a year to bring the ship up to museum level standards so the public can board the Ship. Here check out this link http://www.pacificbattleship.com/ Has a video of the L.A. City council voting to bring the Iowa here to San Pedro

I vote for Lisa to drive the lead truck if she doesn't get killed in Turkey or where ever they're doing that insane mountain driving.

Well that is good news to here. I was hoping she would get a new home somewhear on the west cost. Were suppose to get the Carrier USS Ranger up here just outside Portland In about a year. Just a few miles east of Portland In a city called fairview. Lets all hope for the best for our Naval HISTORY to come to the west coast for homes.

I spent the week before last on the Iowa doing work towards putting in the application with the Navy to get the Iowa down here.

The application is due on Nov-24th 2010 then it will take the Navy a few months to go over everything and then ask questions which we have to have answers and then we should get the approval during the spring, after that the target date for having the Iowa in LA Harbor is July-4th-2011. The target opening date is July-2012
