Fiat CR-32 "Freccia" 36" electric parkflyer

After completing my 1957 Tri-Pacer, I was looking for a new project that had not been done to death, when I found this little jewel. The Italian Fiat CR-32. This 1934 biplane fighter with huge wheel pants just grabbed me!

For more information on this "Outstanding fighter biplane of all time" go to Wikipedia / Fiat CR-32.

Cr-32

I started this project by picking 36" as a wingspan just to stay in a easy to handle size. Using three view's and many photos that are available, I have worked up 2 sheets of construction drawings, and 1 sheet of full size parts in Cadd. I like to do the plastic parts first so I can tweak the laser parts drawings for a better fit. I started with the cowl, exhaust, and little wing fuel tank forms. These were sent to Keith Sparks to pull the plastic.
With the plastic parts assembled, and the parts drawings "tweaked", the files were sent to Manzano for cutting. So now with plans, laser and plastic parts, I am ready to build.

Great subject Bill - I love these 'last of the biplanes' era fighters - something rather menacing about them
Looking forward to your build - Pat

Subscribing. 30's racers and military bipes are my favorite.

RC Model World (UK) put this out as a free plan for a four stroke at 54" span in September 95. Nicely detailed plan

...and yet one more magazine feature:
FS did a nice feature of of the CR32 in the past few years also. Always liked it, after seeing that rendition.

I know it's early days but are you thinking of kitting it thru Charlie or anything like that?

I saw one a while back, the gent did a small-ish one as a prototype for a bigger one of around 48" but I don't think there is a kit on the market for this model.

Thanks for asking Beaver,....since I have Sparkys plastic and Charlies parts and my plans, seems like a natural thing to do.....after it flys. Manzano now has my Tri-Pacer short Kit, and my site is www.parkflyerworks.com. for some pictures.

I am going to stay with the 36 to 4o inch sizes cause they fly nice, and you don't have to take them apart for transport.

Building CR-32

Building the fuselage is pretty normal, except for the inset that is the radiator air exit. Since this is a prominent feature on the plane, I decided to build it in.
This required a side panel to be constructed separately and added to the fuselage side. The sides were squared up and the cross pieces added.
