Please put me down for one also.

How are things looking to do another production run?

Pete,

I have added you to the list of people to be informed when they are available. At present all components are ordered and I am awaiting PCBs which are due April 13th. I guess units will be available about two weeks later ie end April.

Wayne, how many measurements does your nice device take to calculate the average value?

Leszek,

It only takes a single reading by measuring voltage, applying a load of 16A for 15mS and measuring the voltage again just before the pulse is removed. It then calculates the IR from the results. There is no need to take several readings as the results are very consistent. I tried several pulses with no improvement. Several pulses or one longer one will distort results slightly by warming the battery and reducing the IR.

I rather meant one pulse and fast series of measurements.
How fast can you take voltage measurements?
BTW what is the ADC resolution?

15 ms? How do you manage the transient state (inductance of connections, capacity of cell SEIs). Did you take waveforms with a scope for various battery capacities?

Will send a PM with more details - most people on the forum don't want lots of technical detail.

I'd appreciate the technical details. The more the merrier.

Wayne, I'm sure there are quite a few people who would. You can always put a "This information is known in the State of California to cause possible brain damage" warning in the title.

I would be interested.

Smaller Packs

What would happen if this meter is used on smaller packs like 325~480?

Also, if the list is still around, I'd like to be put on it for a meter.
I may have missed it, but is there a manual on the meter I can look at
in the mean time?

Thanks
Bob

Bob,

I rated it at 500 - 6000mAh because the pulse is 16A. which is not too big for the smallest pack yet is still a significant load for the larger sizes. As the pulse is only 15mS it would not damage the 325mAh pack, but the maximium pack reading is 250milliohms and cell 30 milliohms so that there is a risk that the actual values would be greater than this at low temperatures.
I have put you on the list to be contacted when the present batch is completed (about 2 weeks.)
As I only made them as a hobby, there is no real Manual, but I send out a double sheet of info with each meter. Hopefully it is attached to this post.

Hi Wayne,

From your manual...

"It is possible to connect the meter in parallel with a working load (ESC + Motor) and monitor the ESR as the discharge proceeds. This will clearly demonstrate the self heating effect and consequent fall in ESR as the battery temperature rises."

Can you explain how you would do this? Would you press the button while the motor is running? Wouldn't this either put an excessive load on the pack and or confuse the meter? I'm very slow when it comes to electronics so please pardon the question.
