Kokam LIPO 340's........ any first hand experience?

Right, well, after 6 years out of the hobby I have returned!

Spent the best part of the last 9 days putting in over 60 flights with the West Wings Beguine I built all those years back.

When I built it the best cells available (and suitable) were AA nicads and with 6 or 7 of these the wing loading was looking to be higher than I wanted, and the run time nothing to write about! This meant I spent a lot of time lightening the plane from stock.........

Anyway, thanks to this forum I found Graham's website and his LIPO's! Needless to say, with an AUW of 460-470g (stock max is 560) it flies, well, very nice, snap rolls too!

I have been using 2S 1200HD's................ pull around 7A static... have been getting 30 minute or 15 minute flights depending on the wind etc.......... batteries always end up warm, around the 45-50C mark.

Now the pair weigh 50g........ what I am looking for is a genuine 90% capacity at 1000mah....... with a 8A draw, max weight 90g.

Has anyone any experience of the new high discharge cells? Sure would be nice if they were available in a 600 or even 1200, but they are not, so the only option is to parallel up three 2S packs.

PS. I have seen the other thread, but as per title, really looking for first hand data..........

I just got back from flying my Nemesis that draws 5.8 amps (max) on the 340 cells. I only have 1 flight on them but they performed very well on the first flight. It was totally non scientific, but fun none the less. I'll do some bench testing on them soon. So far so good.

What kind of flight time did you get, and what does an assembled pack weight?

fill, I got around 7 min of flight time before power faded. I was being easy on it for the first flight. I'm going out of town, when I return on Tuesday I'll do more scientific tests.

Here is a discharge graph I just made. The load was 5.4 amps constant (via Razor 400 monitored by a Sears amp meter). One note on the voltages. My ginzel chager measured the voltage of my pack at 8.4 volts, my volt meter measured 8.28 volts. I'm inclined to trust the Gizel as my voltmeter is about 1/20th the price of the Ginzel. Becuase of this I went down to 5.9 volts according to the volt meter before stopping the discharge.
Its not as pretty as others graphs, I made mine with MSPaint.

Looks like about 292mah - 86% capacity roughly. Neat

Is the horizontal of the graph seconds or mAh? At first glance I thought it was mAh. Must be time.

Sorry about that, it is seconds. Except for the voltage sag these things perform VERY nicely.
