After trimming, staining and sealing the transom,it was time for a sea trial. The rudder stuffing boxes do not leak,I assembled them with a little grease as advised. The mack 3600 motors and 1.75 dumas props had good speed and about 10 min run time with one 1400 mah battery. As I am planing to use a 4800 mah nimh battery that should give me a run time of about 25 min.I was planning to put the battery between the motors, but the boat ran with a better atitude with the battery aft

I made a jig with 7 strips of cedar to get the curve in the roof.Three pieces of .062 birch plywood were laminated together with west sys epoxy and left to dry overnight

Fine work on the cabin front as well as the rest of it, Finn. Your work is very neat and methodical; it will really pay off when she's finished. She'll look fabulous.

I have started on the bridge,I built one out of .250 plywood but it looked too bulky so I cut it off and built another with .186 ply.

I'm in luv.
Re: teak, may be better to go with basswood, stained to look like teak than using actual teak veneer. Teak is a fairly oily wood and is sometimes difficult to bond. Also, the grain on real teak may not be 'clear' enough to look right in scale. |
