Depends on number of blades, fan type, etc...

Besides the number of blades, there's the pitch and shape of the blades. Also, pusher or tractor type ...

hehe, yes... you can rest assured when they make a 'ready to go combo' (eg like that Mercury) it is all designed to operate as per their specs/outline. The motor is going to be correct (RPM result) for the voltage/cells they state.

The Mercury is actually a high blade count fan (8 I think) but it will have lower pitch to allow for that. It also uses ALLOY BLADES so they can do out to 60k RPM totally fine, versus plastics doing 50K area max (safely).

It is a pusher system (fairly rare) but that is irrelevant to blade pitch and RPM.

I haven't resumed building mine, but I almost always use a slide-lock mechanism.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...0pcs_bag_.html

You will work out, over time, that magnets etc are not reliable. Eventually you will lose the canopy. You can't beat a ASSURED locking method!
They can always be fit into any 70mm or down to 64mm model (even some 50mm).
Very easy to cut/mod foam and fit. Might need a thin plywood plate glued to the canopy rear (I haven't checked this plane yet).
I replace a 'cover' of the prior cut-out foam and repaint that area, so then all you see is the 'release tab'.
