Comparison between FMS 1.4m Spitfire or Durafly HK 1.4 Spitire

Has anyone done a comparison of the FMS Spitfire compared to the cheaper Hobby King version? I'm curious if someone has had experience with both could chime in.

Spec on FMS Spitfire:
Wing Span:1400mm(46.42 inches)
Length: 1180mm(46.4 inches) Anyone know the correct length I've get conflicting information on two diffrent website. One website says 1250mm and another says 1180mm not sure which is correct.
Weight:1600g(56.4 OZ)
Motor: 520KV out runner(included)
ESC: 50A with external BEC(included)
servo: 5 servos included 4 x 9g and 1 x 17g for elevator
Retract: servoless electric retract included

Spec on Durafly Spitfire
Length: 1190mm
WingSpan: 1420mm / 55.9in
Propeller: 11x7E
Flying Weight: 1650g
Motor: C3542 Brushless outrunner 1100kv
ESC: 40A (Not included)
Battery: 11.1v 2200~2600mAh 3S1P (Not included)
Servos: 6 Total (9g x 4 ailerons/rudder/elevator) (20g x 2 retract 180deg)
Battery compartment size: 150 x 55 x 32mm

1) FMS Spitfire larger nose so easier to mod and add stronger power plants.
2) Both made of strong good foam and eaisly repariable
3) Servo's on Durafly Spitfire are horrible
4) Landing gear on Durafly is very weak
5) Price of Durafly Spit is considerably cheaper. $139 compared to $219
6) Both are relatively the same size at 1.4m
7) Both have retracts mechanical on Durafly and Servoless on FMS
8) Durafly does not come with ESC 40 is recommended but most people are putting in a 60A
9) It seems most people are flying the FMS on 4S however 3S for the Durafly. This is wiered as the Durafly is actually a little bigger and weighs a little more???

Anyone else would like to add to the list? And or please make comments about what you enjoy about your particular model.

I have the durafly spit. before even considering flying it, every servo (save the gear units) needed to be replaced. although the concealed aileron linkage is nice, it was problematic with very sloppy throws and the inability to go back to zero. I had to install wing-mounted servos and plug the bell crank holes.
although I'm not terribly anal about scale looks, the wing has zero dihedral and the paint was cartoonish. I needed to address both these issues.
while the stock motor will get it airborne it wasn't enough for my tastes. The integral motor mounting tube limits motor choices. I had to essentially fillet the nose and dig out the mount to install an Eflite Power 32. The supplied spinner is junk..needed to replace that as well.
In it's favor, the Durafly Spit is quite robust and it is inexpensive. But given the amount of work I had to do and the $$ put into it I can't call it a "bargin".
In hindsight, I would have purchased the FMS Spit.

Not different. When present stock is sold out there will be no more. HK is not making this bird anymore. So, for those of you who want one, get them while you can.

It's an old thread for a reason!!
The Durafly 1400mm Spitfire (which this tread was about) was discontinued years ago!!
Here is the original thread.......The NEW 1.41986 M W/S Hobbyking Spitfire?....from 2010!!

Hey guys, I was given a crashed example of the old 1400mm Durafly Spitfire.

I have her largely ready for test flight, but I do need a new spinner.

Is this thing completely discontinued? Anyone know if there are any spares available?

The colour scheme has been chosen, and work is well advanced into its rebirth.
I chose a fighter which was flown by an old family friend, Godfrey Ball, when he was in RAF 43 SQN in 1943.
I have a cockpit photo of Godfrey, and some images of other 43SQN aircraft from the net.
Using this info, I'm customising a tribute to Godfrey.
I'll have his name under the cockpit, and his total kills from the war on it as well.
Not perfectly scale, hell, it's a Durafly model, but it will serve as my tribute to Godfrey.

I have struck an issue,
One of the servos driving the under carriage, right wing, has died,
I need a replacement.
Does anyone, in Aussie, have one of these, or can you suggest where I might get one.

Rob
