Bomb drop - any good ones out there?

So I'm really considering the Hyperion Stuka. If I got one, I'd definitely have to drop a bomb as well as add a whistle. I've had a bomb from Hobby Lobby and it was OK, I understand there's one available from Hobby King but it's nothing to write home about either. Is there a better one out there? It doesn't have to break open on impact, but that's a nice bonus if it does.

It's a really big number.
Yup - #2 for the hobby king unit. I have one on my Stuka too. Even as the empty casing it tracks nice and straight when released. Looks good in the air too.

Thanks for the replies. I've heard mixed reviews about the HK bomb. The ones from Firepower look cool!

It'll cost you $15 shipped to find out. If you buy it and don't like it than you will have first hand experiance. HOWEVER, I know you'll like it

I was going to say, it's worth taking a chance for $15. So many planes, so little money. Next on my bench (once it gets here) is the Hobby Lobby F/A-18. I also have a burning desire for a T-Rex 600e but that will have to wait until the beginning of next year. I'd love to also get the Hyperion Stuka but I'm salivating over the Hangar 9 Jackal.

Hello..

I took a chance on the HK Bomb drop.. in fact i have it installed on my Hyperion Stuka. If you look on the Hyperion Stuka thread there are some cool pics my buddy took of my vertical dive bombing runs posted a couple days ago.

Since you're looking into the Stuka i'm 99% sure you (like me plan on diving vertically down letting her go before pulling out about 8ft off the deck!

I did some minor mods to make the release a little quicker and reliable (switched out the servo.. filed down the clamps a bit etc) since I didn't want it getting stuck.

It works remarkably well for the price, I went ahead and purchased two extra bombs because the one thing I found was the bombs are brittle and can really fall apart when dropped in this manner.

I've reinforced them with tape and padding up front since and they seem to hold up a little better.

Hey Mike,

I have some of the Firepower bombs ready to be built. They are very nicely done and he has different styles of releases.

I just haven't gotten around to working on them. The owner, Rich, is a very nice guy and has plans to make other scales and styles of ordnance. He updates his site slowly but the supplied kits/hardware/instructions are very well done.

It would be very easy to mix his stuff with Sparkes ordnance as both styles are vac-u-formed to get a scale or style needed.

Both Rich and Sparkes are first rate and I prefer thier stuff to the mass produced options. I linked all the others just to show what's available since every project requires something different and you never know.

Be sure to post pics of your projects as they progress.
