Help!

Keeping prop attached to 1.5mm motor shaft with 2s power

My micro sukhoi lately has been throwing props, I guess the rubber GWS prop adapters are getting worn out. Is there anything else light that will hold onto the shaft better? These are just push on and slip off really easily, especially after some use & changing props while testing. I can't use a metal collet because it's weight prohibitive.

Is there a glue I can use that will help it stick, but keep it serviceable in the future?

I've got an AP03 4000kV motor on 2s lipo, so it gets the prop going pretty quickly for that style adapter.

Will one of these be too heavy?

unfortunately, I think so. The airplane is already heavier than I would like, so every little gram counts

I will measure the weight when I get home. I also use dental rubber bands instead of heavy o-rings.

Thanks much! As a reference, the prop adapter I have been using is 0.7g.

It's this one: http://www.aeromicro.com/Catalog/gws...1__1020450.htm

The one I showed weighs 0.48g if you use a dental rubber band with it.

On my stock Sukhoi the shaft is threaded. You might be able to do the same with yours. Or roughen up the shaft and glue the prop saver on.

Another light version is the one that Radical RC sells. It's a wood bushing for the GWS prop and you glue it on.

I've got the wood ones. Great for threaded shaft & 1s operation. Definitely doesn't work with smooth shaft & 2s operation. I glued the GWS spinner/adapter on for now. We'll see how that goes.

Hello,

Did you ever find out where to get the one MegaTesla posted in post #2?

Thanks,

Daniel.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think they came with the AP03 (3g) motors that I ordered from HobbyKing. Either that or with the 5g motors that are included in some of the smaller airplane kits.

Thanks everyone for your help. My idiot self never realized that one of the metal style prop savers came with my D1400-2000 motor. I was just digging around looking for something else and came across it. Where to source the dental rubber bands? I don't have braces and am at least 14 years away from having a kid that will need them, if I get to work on it immediately.
