It seems odd the would have the warehouse in the middle of the country, they have to ship the product to the USA then again to a warehouse in the middle of the country. The shipping cost would be crazy high.Im amazed its not located within ten miles of a west coast container port. Brutus

just a quick couple of questions on the spit do i need a y reversing harness for the retracts? is there a y harness for the ailerons or are they driven off a single servo? also there is an alum tube about 1 1/2 in or so long and about 1/4" in dia, anyone know what this is for? thx.

1- You need a reversing Y harness for the retracts.
2- The aluminum tube and the pin connect the wings together.
3- Ailerons use a normal Y harness. Each aileron has a servo.

I know that everyone makes videos of their Spitfires flying, mine will be in the air soon, I hope. Waiting on the retracts. So...I made a video of the new paint job and modifications.

I forgot to say that on the ailerons, I cut the plastic tab that moves the ailerons. This allows the aileron to move free. On the outside edge of the hinge, I installed CA hinge and that works out real nice.

Sorry man. Yes it flies! It flies great as a matter of fact. I had new retracts in....the servoless type and they ripped out. So I made a set of wire gear and it worked out perfect. I was able to push the wheels forward a bit also and makes landing in grass a lot more easier.

When we get some decent weather, I will make a movie.

Dave, thanks. I want a big Spit and have been poking around looking. Whats your set up and can you compare her to the EFlite AT6? Thats my heavy bird.

Brian,
I cant compare with your bird as I have never flown that one. All I can say is that for the size of this bird, it can either float slow or haul butt. I think it is a winner.

Dave, thanks. The AT6 had a nasty tip stall if slowed too much (like when you hit LVC LOL) so I was curious if she displayed the same nasty wing drop.

Since I have been flying autogyros so much, I tend to go too slow sometimes. That is why I crashed my Bird Dog, it snapped while coming in to an approach.

When I landed the Spitfire, which has been a handful of times due to the weather, it wants to keep flying. It really is a dream to land and take off. I wish I had another one in perfect condition. After Christmas, I may grab another one just to put on the side.

I put a lot of work on this bird and was a fun way to learn about retracts.

My only complaint is that I cant get spare parts.
If there is a magical link out there in cyber space, I sure would like it!

Dave
