Question

Plane for O.S. FS.26?

I am looking for a 4 channel sport plane to fit this engine. I am willing to scratch build. I have considered a Slow Poke 10, but they are discontinued. Open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

The Sig 4 Star 20 is pretty good. You may have to scratch build it though. Unless you get lucky and find a kit for it someplace.

I put the two OS FS26's that I have on a Tower Hobbies Twinstar plane. it sounds awesome with 2 four cycle engines on it.

Looks promising. Radical RC has an electric version. Not sure how it would take the weight of the engine. Perhaps I'll call. see it here:

Flying Models has plans for a Bingo 20, which was never kitted.

Prentice Baby Bipe, from Air Age (MAN) would be pretty hot.

For scale, the old Gordon Whitehead designs, especially his Tiger Moth, RCM. For a Gypsy Moth, Model Aviation. RCM has a suitable Pietenpol. Air Age has a really nice Aeronca C-1.

Many have used it on the Sig Cub 1/6th scale. And yes, that GP T-Craft would be a good choice too.

Thanks Buzz. I've Bingo plans somewhere. Will find them. Do you know of a rule of thumb for engine to fly weight like electrics do in watts per pound?

For an aerobatic sport plane like the Bingo it would be really good to keep it down around 3 lbs if you can...less than that would be even better. I had one on a plane that was 3 lbs 5 ozs and it was fun, but limited. You can use small servos and find places to lighten the structure. I'd skip the "lite ply". For most scale models you could go to 4 lbs with no problem, like AMA's 50 inch Gypsy Moth.

I have one in a GP Cub20. It flies great, the sound is awesome. great fuel economy as well. I can fly it for 22 minutes on an 8 os tank.

Deal Honestly or Don't Deal
The Hyperion O1E Birddog ARF would be perfect for this engine.

Sarg,

Bird Dog here:

I question whether it will hold up to IC power and weight. Do youhave one?

That's not the one I had in mind. They used to have that same plane in a 25E

I don't think I would put an engine on that one.

From Sig:
The Four Star 20 would fly just fine with the OS FS-26.  I would recommend using 3/8" triangle stock to re-enforce the firewall/fuselage juncture.  This will add strength in this area needed for the power and vibration of the engine.  Other than that, the model is built plenty strong enough.

Any vintage or old-timer of about 5ft (1.5 metres) in the wingspan would do.

Different type of model I'll concede.
