Inspired in the Delta Rig

After read some about the Delta Rig I imagine this rig for small boats like RG-65.

Probably is just a crazy idea without future.

Your opinions please.

An aft mast - very interesting...

I'm not sure about the shape of that sail, though...

Have you seen this - which has inspired a few Footy model designs that I am doodling...?

Looks interesting!

I'd like to try something like that with multiple low aspect ratio rigs replacing the single higher aspect ratio rig.

If you look the main sail on the new Minitransat units, the sail is more or less like my design, but as the Minitransat use spinnaker they have a genoa, but on a boat that don't use spinnaker you don't need a genoa. The mast in the front induce turbulence on the main sail, then inspired by the Delta Rig I started to thinking in a sail with a shape like Minitransat main but with the mast on the rear.

Maybe this sail will never win a regatta, but ....

"Multiple low aspect ratio" certainly has a place with Footy models... which is why I am interested.

A mast ahead of a sail may well induce some turbulence - but...
Where would that boom pivot ?

The lower boom would pivot like the genoa boom, on the deck.

Yes... but at what position along its length - right at the front ?

Probably 30% or 40% behind the bow end. I'm not sure, I think a lot of testing is necessary to develop this type of rig.

I'd say that your 'delta rig' and the one which I linked to will need much testing at model sizes...
