I reall like and cant wait for some video! Do you think the cheap 9 gram servos by towerpro can hold up in this fast sled. Maybe need metal gear at this speed........

I would love to break 100 mph with a stock blue wonder motor.
Dan,

Thanks for the heads up on whats happening here. I am just getting a similar setup in a new F-16 prop jet I am working on.

I wanna get a box of your foam. When do you anticipate it will be back in stock?

We are getting a sample of the second production run either today or tomorrow for our approval. If we are able to okay it, probably within the next 3 weeks.

BTW that model there was made from a box of the seconds. That limited offer is an excellent deal.

I'm using the HXT 900 servos. I think they are up to the task. This plane is very pitch neutral so I don't think the servos are working much even at high speed.

On the power system and heat; I do not fly WOT (wide open throttle) all the time. For the speed runs, I set up an approach, full throttle for 4 or 5 seconds. Then during the pull up, I cut power and glide around for the next speed run. This is just the way I do it. It allows me to relax a little between the high adrenaline, low altitude, high speed passes. I think it is a lot easier on the power train too.

With the really thin wing I noticed the jet feels more skiddish at low speeds and actually "locks in" much better at high speed. Could be the thin airfoil or maybe due to the small-ish fin.

I always love your designs LF. I just ordered some parts for this build and the motor is rated for 2 cells and it will be run at 3 cell is that really bad for it? Or is that why you only use it for 4-5 second bursts at full out.

Motors should be rated for amps or watts , not cell count. If you pull the same watts with 3s and a smaller prop compared to the watts pulled with 2s and a larger prop you should be fine. Always start conservatively and check (heat) as you go.

The short bursts of power and high speed cooling both will keep the motor from overheating... overheating is the main concern of pulling too much power.

I want to prop up a little more still, since the motor is coming down cool and I want to explore the practical top limit of my current set up with a stock motor. I "think" I want more pitch but not more diameter. I'm considering cutting down a 6 x 5.5 prop to 4.5 x 5.5. Not sure if this is the right way to go... time to study up on props a little.

motor mount

Can someone point me to a good motor mount for the Turnigy 2836-2350? It looks like some folks are using the GWS mounts. Is there any place in the US that stocks these?

I bought both the Tee and L brackets here, and plan to try them out on my next X-Racyer. My GWS mounts seem to break often (yeah its me).
