southern laffite skiff scratch build!

back in my teens through my early 20's i was a rc boat builder, way before i even knew forums existed.i been wanting to get back into boats for years.
a group of guys here were asking for shrimp boat plans, or laffite skiff plans.
Ou812 known here as redlinedb18c.... has been nagging at me to build a skiff to show you guys how its done.
I figured id capitolize on this oppertunity, build it, then mold it out or polyester resin ( fiberglass) then sell ready to float completed hulls, different sizes and various shapes.
or assemble a ready to build kit for you to build.

Now is a good time to start i guess.
this will be a scratch build,no plans.....all in my head!
not one rc boat manufacture sells boats like this.....that im aware of.
about 10 years ago i emailed dumas, and midwest (big guns in the scale rc boat world)showing them pics of my boats, and requesting them to build a kit version.
i even offered to send each of them a free sample to review.
none of them responded.
im from the gulf coast of louisiana, these boats are are the vast majority of the boats in the water down here.
they range from 16ft up to 40 ft,with cabins.....down to open hulls, single screw and twin screw.
inboard motor, and outboard motor, this boat hull can be built in many scales, many variations.

im building a 30-32inch x 10-11inch model of a jefferson style laffite skiff.
ill be using spanish ceder only.
construction will be done the same way it was on a full size skiff some 40 years ago, every rib,one at a time, every plank one at a time.
ill build my skiff just like a old vintage cypress skiffs, but have a more modern jefferson glass skiff look.
there are many different shapes and styles of laffite skiffs.

this will be a slow build, due to my work schedule.
please enjoy

the pile on the left is just drop off...misc peices...1/2 x 1/2....1/4 x 1in ect.
good keel material.

Igotit, yeah, you're starting out on the right track, as far as I can see.

The photo of the blue and white boat matches all the information I've managed to get on the Lafitte skiffs.

Got your PM, by the way---.

added a few braces and a stiffing beam from transom to upright keel. this will give it a little strength, and help keep everything straight.
these are temporary, will be removed once the skelleton is built up!
added a top strip to give you guys an idea of the profile im going for

thanx capt, ill do a good job on this one.
next comes the hard part, installing the chine guides!
ill get a pic up in a few hours.

ok heres the progress pics, added the chine guides, started the ribs.
all the braces will be removed once the ribs are in place.
anything above the chine rail will become drop off.
everything below it will be the ribs for the bottom.

now comes the hard part.....setting up the top guide rail.
trying to get both sides to match, this will determine the final shape of the hull.
still tweaking it a little,i may add a little more flare to the bow.
