Free Stuff : Airbags from cars and it's free.

Go to your local auto wrecker and get the passenger side airbags (less mussed up) as these are made of kevlar. They lay up great and are brilliant when wetting down and quite light as well hey it's for free go try it.

Cool pic, is that photowizarded or real? I'll have to check out the auto shop, and see if they have anything. Is there a specific car to look for?

I am only advocating the use of dead Airbags ya touch the live ones at ya own peril. There's enough kevlar in there to keep ya happy.

There is a rumor that there is arsenic dust on the bags from the deployment devices.

SkyPyro go to one of the Many Accidents during Rush Hour on the AZ Freeways and get yourself an airbag out of a crushed car. You will have to get through the Cops though.

The explosive used I believe is made by combining Sodium Azide (NaN3) with a salt such as Lead Nitrate to form Lead Azide which is explosive. Sodium Azide when mixed with water has some toxic properties which could result from trace amounts of Arsenic.

President Reagan was shot with bullets tipped with an Azide compound which is intended to explode on impact.

Supposedly, in New Jersey (Motto: "Of the Lawyers, By the Lawyers, and For the Lawyers"), the airbags can't be tossed because

a) they are the property of the insurance company now, and
b) the insurance company retains them as "evidence" in case of a lawsuit

I have a 1' dia roll of 6" or 9" wide Kevlar. It was given to me by a guy who works for a paper roller manufacturer.
