I believe the 8 channel one has sailplane programming.

Interesting. I did not know about DMSS.

I presume that is not the same as Spektrum.

So I guessing that the DX9 the Aussie mentioned would be a rebadged 9503 with Spektrum's RF.

If the JR 9503 is also in Australia, then I would guess that it is DMSS based. Ya think?

Things get more interesting every day.

I received this answer about the DX9.

Aeajr,
The radio is a JR DX9 2.4GHz version as sold and labelled in Australia. The manual that came with it is entitled 'JR X9503 2.4
Bought a couple of months back, new (but I suspect the stock has been around a while).
I don't know why JR (or their agent, Model Flight) chose to do it this way, but the habit goes back a way - my 3810 is known as the 8103 in most of the world. I have not been able to pick any significant differences from the manual, other than some iffy switch labelling and location, probably caused by the fact that mine is Mode 1 and the heli version.
Cheers,
Pete

The new JR XG8 has glider programming and looks a lot like the Spektrumized X11. The line between radios gets even more fuzzy

Interesting is there a model name difference between the 9303 and 9503 based DSX-9?

In the pics it looks like the throttle trim is electronic and not mechanical.

I know this is an old thread, but just a heads up for anyone still watching it... For the upcoming toy fair, Horizon just announced dedicated glider software for the DX8. Don't know if it's a pay option or will be a free download from spektrumrc.com.
