The bond holders got five cents on the dollar while the government and the UAW made out!

My understanding is that we will eventually get all the big bucks bailout money back, with interest at a good rate. It is going to turn out so well that it will generate new and productive government thinking far into the future.

That is some pie in the sky wishful thinking. There is no chance of us getting back all of our money. It's not even in the realm of possibility.

Todays Update

"The Treasury Department dramatically boosted its estimate of losses from its $85 billion auto industry bailout by more than $9 billion in the face of General Motors Co.'s steep stock decline.

In its monthly report to Congress, the Treasury Department now says it expects to lose $23.6 billion, up from its previous estimate of $14.33 billion. "

Not most likely -absolutely would. I don't know the exact numbers but pre-chapter 11 something like 40% of GM's operating costs were legacy union costs.

Not saying they didn't deserve it... whatever idiot on GM side agreed to some of those terms should have their MBA/MBB/MP3/Whatever revoked.

$23.6 billion - how much is that per union employee saved or created?

What Mr. Obama did for the UAW and GM and did TO the GM bond holders and American tax payers is representative of his entire presidency. Classic Chicago Way thug tactics. Makes me sick.
