my mods are - 3 blade prop, home made spinner, upgraded canopy, arresting hook, scale landing gear. 87 flights to date. still in one piece. love her! not concerned with speed as much as looks overall. still a great flyer.

That is a fantastic Looking model! What prop did you use? The one for the UM Corsair? Did you build your own landing gear?

yes the prop is the um corsair. the gear are small straws for the struts and some thin mil. white sheet plastic i found laying around. everything is as light as possible so it shouldnt slow her down too much. the straws are about 3 times as thick as the wire and make the legs look more scale. thanks for the kind words. walt

Two Aileron Servos

Dual aileron servos, using parts from the mCX2.

Carbon strip under the wing. I made a form from some foam packing material, to clamp the carbon strip to the wing while the glue set, holding the wing shape.

DX5e fatal flaw- PM me!!!!
You can just plug right into the brick to do that?

Did the brick need some programming to reverse one vs the other?

If you use "dual Ailerons" on the TX, you can just plug the servos into the brick and they will work (though you may need to reverse one of the servos in the TX).

With a RTF TX, you'd need to switch the brick to Channel 2/Reverse Channel 2 mode.

Dave, using the "dual ailerons" mode allows flaperons or spoilerons (pretty useless with the UM T28) but also allows differential, which would give a more scale appearance in flight.

I haven't set differential yet, but aim to try it out soon enough. Unfortunately, the T28 doesn't get much flight time these days.

Walter, that is a single carbon fiber strip. I don't recall the dimensions, but I'll take a measurement and get back.

I removed the wing from the plane and separated the belly pan. Made a form out of foam to hold the wing shape while the epoxy set, and glued the strip to the wing, clamping with the form for a few hours. Otherwise the carbon fiber strip will try to remove all dihedral. Some dihedral was removed with this mod.

Matt, I am not understanding why you glued a carbon strip? Is this to reduce flex? I haven't seen mine have a problem, so I'm wondering.

It does reduce wing flex. It's not a problem in that it will fly with the wing flexing, but it's not ideal.

When on the ground, run your aileron stick from one side to the other, and watch the wing. Ideally, only the control surfaces move, but that is far from the case with the stock wing.

It hardly flexes at all now, and the aileron control is more crisp. I did the dual-servo mod first, and the carbon strip after a few flights, and the carbon strip does help.

What I do not like about this plane now, is the very slow response on the elevator and rudder, compared to the AR6400L in the su26xp and 4-site.

Have you increased the throws to max?

Indeed I did.

The full-deflection on the (my?) T28 is very slow compared to the su26xp or 4-site, even though these latter planes have a longer throw.

You could, of course, change out to the 6400L. I have a 6400bl that I'm considering as a replacement. It's easier than the wing brace you did! I'm impressed with the dual ailerons and will definitely copy what you did.
