Hi all, I want to try using crow for the first time in landing, just to experiment. My understanding from reading various posts is that if use crow, I can maintain the same amount of down elevator that I use when I land with just flaps and no crow - in other words the elevator position does not need to change according to whether I use flaps only or flaps plus crow. Is this correct?

Just to clarify my question with an example - if, say, I mix 2mm down elevator when I land with flaps only and no crow, if I add crow to land, do I still maintain the 2mm down elevator, or should the amount of down elevator increase/decrease? Thanks!

Elevator Position

+1
That has been my experience across about a half-dozen models; set the down elevator mix for the flaps and it seems that the ailerons do not cause a noticeable difference in pitch (sink rate, heck yes.) :-)

When you activate Crow it will make the Habu balloon up in to the air on a mostly level attitude, it also adds a good bit of drag so you may want to keep a little bit of power on so that it doesn't just fall out of the air then as your sink rate increases due to reducing air speed.

Hi Geoff
Do you have a file I could import into a DX18 For the Habu?

Cheers

Got the new fuselage today so I can move on with the build. It looks much better then the first one. No globs of paint, cracks, and a much smoother finish. Thanks, Horizon. Todd

Hey all im back... with yet another question =D. with the eflite retracts being so pricey has anybody ordered good quality retracts from anywhere else? seen a thread about a guy buying retracts from hobbyking but he never went on to post of pictures to how well they fit into this plane and how good the quality was. any help is appreciated

Well don't know the answer to that but someone in my club said they heard eflite retracts and hobbyking retracts are made in same warehouse thus the same. Speculation I'm sure.
I'm useing tamjets retracts on mine with the metal trunion.
Im saying you get what you pay for.

I have yet to order Tamjets struts but have the Eflites on hand. If I were you I would stick with Eflites knowing that they will go right in. I have not personally seen nor tried the retracts offered by Shulman Aviation so don't know how they compare to Eflite with Tamjets. Hopeing to get the Tamjets ordered soon so thay I can finish installing the retracts. That is my 2 cents for the day. Might tried ebay or RC Groups and see if you can find a set of Eflite's there.

Like it has been mentioned, the eflite ones are a drop in fit with low hassle. If you want cheaper alternatives, check out HK, but compare the specs to the elfite ones to see if they will fit/work. As for struts, Tams are the way to go, again because they have the metal trunions and the machine quality of the hardware is top notch. I havent heard much good about thr shulmans except they are overpriced and almost exactly the same as hobby king varieties.

Any idea what kind of speed? Sorry I had to ask, old habit.
