But then again, it's possible neither would work.
Very useful links - thanks I will give that a try and report back.

hi Geoff
I think in the original posts for these units the threaded rod was longer but the part you want is the same thread as the eflite one.
cheers
Steve.

PS.If you are going to order these will you get me one?

Will do. Are both threaded rods the same diameter? is it only the brass gear that's a different size?

edit: I took a solid look at the photos they both look the same, its just the shaft end for the brass gear that is turned out to a different size.

Ordering now!!

I imagine the stock 3mm x 10mm self tapping screws should work, at least that is what the stock fan calls for. The JF should take the same, if not very similar screws.

I don't use screws on my jetfans , I use metal ducting tape , looks like aluminum foil , but is tape , holds great ,just wrap it around the fan . Hopes this helps, I haven't had one come loose yet , I've used it on a 90mm jetfan on 12s over 4000 watts and it holds fine

What does the tape stick to to hold down the fan?

I have to think that 420flyboy was talking about attaching the thrust tube to the fan, not the fan to the fuselage.

Ive use silicone to hold a fan in place just 3 or 4 dabs arround the shroud to inlet ducting connection. Helps dampen noise to.

420 flyboy, Not sure about HVAC tape though. since they have mounting rail in the plane and flanges on the shroud why not secure it with screws? I use the servo mounting screws with built in flange #2 x 1/2"

I used the bigger screws that are in the kit to hold in the undercarriage..... by accident.. lol then I had to go off and raid an old screw collection to get the undercarriage mounted

The tape sticks to the shroud and the plane ducting , haven't had one come loose yet, at over 4000 watts holds fine , my eflite f4 is held the same way and habu. This tape is really sticky and conforms to the area .

The problem is the jetfan doesn't have the mounting tabs attached to the fan , you have to attach them , it can be easier to use tape , just my 2 cents , and it does work.

I've super glued them in before and that works great also , little dab of glue around shroud , sticks perfect, tap it just right and you can make it out and replace , this is how I've done every jetfan that I've owned from 80 to 90mm 2000 watts to 4000 watts, my 8s habu 32 is glued in.

So in conclusion , I've used HVAC tape , or glue and its works fine.

Doing it that way I would think would put a lot of force on the inlet ducting which may not be designed to handle the forward force on it but......practice speaks louder than theory so at least for the Habu 32, it must be strong enough to handle it.

My TJ80 had to have the mounting tabs glued on also. I was sceptical that they would hold with just CA glue but they've been just fine.
