What stopwatch do you use for DLG contests?

Guys,

After someone posted a thread about a new stopwatch they found, it got me thinking about what watches pilots/timers are using during the contest.

Me, I tend to rely on a Robic Sc-707 but it has failed me when I put it in my shirt and I am sweaty. Really nice accurate watch. The new version, SC-707W is waterproof to 30M taking out its only drawback. est $39

What do you use?

Frank

Seiko. Same battery even for 5 years of contests. I used it in unlimited events before flying DLG. I do turn it off when not in use.

Gerald

PS - I believe it is the S321.

Just for recreational flying and timing I use my ipod velcroed to my transmitter to time. After a session it will give me the date, duration of flying session, shortest flight, longest flight, average flight time, and then a list of all the flights.

iPod touch with program now, but before then I used the little $5 talking kitchen timer from ebay. Worked great and I still use it from time to time as a window timer since it announces each minute left in the working time.

Good, but I can beat that. Mine is a cheapo free "give away" from a trade show.

Fortunately I have this unique skill of being able to translate to a backwards countdown in my head.

707w for contests. For practice, I have a switch on my SD-10G that is set to off in the middle position and on either forward or back, so I can bump it as I change flight modes at the top of the launch. The Tx beeps once per minute. Not elegant, but works OK.

That Palm looked pretty cool!

I personally look for cheap with big numbers so I can read it without reading glasses...

I had a Walmart brand for $12 but it walked away during the last contest at Eldorado.

Now I am using a Radio Shack version. I think it was around $16 or so.

I never want anyone to count down for me. This is becoming a problem as some folks have trained themselves to count down and refuse to simply read and say what the watch says. I can count down or count up but I can't make a mistake if I just say what the watch says...

I LOVE the PALM. It is the way to go, and can be found for peanuts. Don't forget to pay the F3K software developer himself, rather than simply getting it from your buddy. it costs only 10 euro to "Do The Right Thing".

Go get a PALM, it counts up and down for you, displays all of the flight times for the heat, and remaining window time all on one screen. It is the BOMB.

A Palm pilot PDA. Smartphones have killed them (or made them better), so the older Palms are super cheap on Ebay, or you might have one or know someone who does have one in their closet.

Got my Palm 'Zire' used off ebay for about $12, and got the latest DLGTime program from Ralf (link above). It runs on it perfectly. Haven't tried using it in a contest yet, but will soon. Been desk flying with it a lot for practice, and it seems awesome. Very easy to use.
