Thanks guys, it is a beaut and really shows up well in the air. EF did a great job on this one, the covering and fit and finish are outstanding! I did have to rework the canopy slightly to get it to fit flush, but it was no big deal.
Yeah Chis, Barn door elevator is right, that thing just looks crazy at full deflection

Question...Airtronics 94809's would be a good choice for servo for this plane right? Is the 94809 loose in the servo cut out for the elevator?

I believe that is the Airtronics that some guys are using with good success on the the Extra and Edges, but the MXS elevator servo hole comes cut out for an HS85MG. There is a plywood piece that comes in the kit you glue in to resize back to HS65MG size.

I might have missed it, but I don't believe anyone has tried anything but an HS85MG on an MXS elevator. The MXS has such breathtaking pitch authority that I would absolutely go with an HS85MG or an HS5085MG. For one, it fits. For another, we already know the HS85MG works really, really well.

The HS5065MG might be really big overkill, so I may have to try one,

This video is full of high pitch maneuvers possible only with a plane that has this kind of authority. If you go to 4:30, you will see what I believe is the world's first parachure dive into a hover. You've gotta have confidence in your aircraft, and especially your elevator servo to try something like that.

Thanks Doc. I'd like to try digitals because I have an 8FG coming and would like to take full advantage of the HS receiver. I might go 5065's and a 5085. Didn't realize there were digital versions of the 65/85mgs.

Yeah but some of us are looking at the savox digitals for 33 a piece and then using the hitec 5085 since the savox mini os so expensive.

there's been some anecdotal evidence that the 5065s are not as robust as the 65mgs.

if I were starting from scratch I would likely go the savox x3, and the 5085x1.

What is the part number for the Savox servo you guys are running and where is a good place to get them? Use Futaba servo arms?

Savox SH-0255MG. 54 oz/in at 0.13 sec. Digital, $33. www.savoxusa.com They come with good plastic arms. They have a 23 tooth spline so I'm not sure if futaba minis match ot not... but the bigger ones with 25 teeth I know fit.

I use that in all my 48" EXP's elevators.

I'm happy with hitecs service... I get my servos back in 10-15 days, last time with no charge. Does Savox take care of you?

I am building a new Edge EXP next week and running HS5065MGs all the way around. The HS65MG is getting a little marginal on these planes. With the big surfaces and high degrees of deflection we are really demanding everything, and more, that we can get out of these little servos.

For a few years I have been getting blowback at speed on my 4s planes, burning out amplifiers and scoring potentiometers. When I went to the EXP series, the extra performance just made the problem worse.

The reason I chose to try this on the Edge is because my first Edge was stalling and blowing back the HS65MG elevator servo pretty badly, but to be fair, that was on an old Airboss and running on 5.2 volts. The HS5065MG should be fine, especially with the newer 6 volt Airboss.

First flights with my MXS, used 3s for the first 3 flights but needed more power. Cracked the landing gear on the 1st landing and crashed on the 3rd flight, a little glue and back up with a 4s, now this is fun, threw her into a high speed tumble and crack, 3 of the 4 hinges came out and the aileron was hanging by the servo linkage and one hinge, ! Managed to gain control and get her down, not much fun with 12-15 mph winds and one working aileron. CA on all hinges and back up with no more issues. Can't wait to get her out again.

Unfortunately I don't own one if these... yet... but in my other 48" EXPs I run 3 sh-0257mg servos for rudd and aile, and 1 sh-0255mg on the elevator. They are both digital and the specs and prices blow away the digital hitec equivilants.

I actually meant the 255, funny how one digit can mess everything up, lol. Found some (0257's/0255's) in stock at A-main hobbies so I'm gonna give them a try. why not right..
