C rating is more then you would need and higher C rated batts usually weigh more but will work fine. If thats what you have use it. With the stock setup I think I was getting 43 amps so 43A/2.5Ah=17.2C. A good true rated 25C would work great.

My batts are between 285-300g for my 2500-2650s and some others are using 2200s in the 260g range. I think the 2500 and 2650s area good balance between flight time and performance, but keep in mind I don't care for the floaty setup.

Yup, same here. Although when mine take a dump I may try some 2200's to lighten up a little.

I fly with a 45c and honestly like how it handles than the lighter 25 to 30c packs.

I have an Airboss ESC question

I bought the combo with the Airboss ESC, and there is a point in the throttle, I think at about 40%, there is a jump in power, like a change of gears. It's very annoying trying to do harrier rolls, especially. Anyone else having this happen?

No, I don't ever use an idle mix on anything. Will that help?

Also, does ZTW make Airboss ESC's? The reason I ask, I just talked to a friend who's building a P-51 with a ZTW ESC, and he has noticed the same thing happening with it.

Thanks,

Chuck

OK, I'll try it. All my other ESC's are CC and I haven't had this happen with them.

Thanks for the feedback.

Something worth asking is if you are coming from flying 3s. If you are used to that, 4s power can be a little spikey by comparison. 4s is kind of like having a turbo and there is a point where the boost comes on with a bang. This was happening with other ESCs I tried and the Airboss still had the smoothest delivery.

I've been flying 4s for so long that I don't notice, but when I go back to 3s throttle control is much easier and the plane is much more docile all the way around.

Good question, but no, I have 1s to 6s planes, for example, a Velox on 4s, 59" Slick and a 60" EF Edge(no. 2) on 6s and the throttle response on all is very linear. This only happens with the MXS.

Odd. Try resetting the programming to default. It's pssible you may have changed something in the programming when setting the plane up. Everything works best on the Airboss (Assuming you also have a Torque motor) when set to default anyway.

Thanks, Doc, I'll try the idle up and see what happens.

My Castle Ice Lite 50 does the same thing. Gonna try and take it out with a throttle curve if possible.

Call Bernie at Castle. The guy is on top of it and will know what to tell you to do. I will bet that he tells you to download the newest software and set it up for Outrunner mode.

Please send Bernie my best while you're there. He helped me out a lot when I first got into electrics.
