They're out of stock though

Gens Ace makes good stuff, too, for the price. We're still experimenting with batteries to find the best bang for your buck. But what we have so far is if you don't use Zippy 20C blue batteries you're pretty much gonna get pretty good performance. I really like Sky Lipo, however, and I use them in everything from 2S foamies to 10S 5000mAh 27%ers.

[Disclaimer: I don't own a 48" MXS, but I own 2 48" Edges, 1 48" Extra, 1 60" Edge, 1 78" Extra, and a wish list for everything else]
Thanks for the help!

If it's still good, go for it, after that, and check again. If the 25c is an honest rating, it's more than enough battery.
+1 All my 4s packs are 25C Gens Ace. I also like the Sky Lipo's as they are cheap. I run them in my 70 Extra.

Went out to the file today and maidenhead her..... PF equaled 7. Only ran 5 minutes just e ought to get trimming out, test CG, and make a couple of approaches. Did one turn on roll on low rates and like 6 on high .

Can't wait to get some different batteries in it and get going. Thanks again to everyone for the help.

I like the Extreme Flight ones anyway because they have a metal backplate. The plastic backs can flex at speed and throw evcerything out of whack. I've seen them cause so much hell that they blow the motorbox off.

Of course, my absolute favorites are the Elecrtifly spun aluminum spinners, but those don't come with the right size collar to fit the Extreme Flight prop adapter. You have to glue the small one in with CA and then drill it to the right size with a drill press. When Jim moved across the state he took our drill press, so now I use the Extreme Flight spinners because they work.

Doc you reminded me,

Glue those adapters in place on the spinner so they don't fall out when you pull the spinner.

Question for owners of the 48" Mxs Exp.
I ordered one recently and was wondering if I could use the Scorpion series 2 3014-1040 motor? It was the motor I had in my PA 260 and it worked great in that airframe. I ran a 13/6 prop with it and it had nice power.
I will be building soon and would appreciate your thoughts on using this motor.
Thanks.

You could but it will be marginal. The 3020 size is the one for this but you end up with a fair gap between spinner and cowling. A Motrolfly 2820-750 on 4s is the ticket.

I flew mine in the beginning with the Torque 2818 900 kv on 4s and it did okay at best. The plane is meant for the 2814 820 kv Torque IMO.

I flew mine a couple days ago and the canopy flew off after takeoff. Turns out my hatch latch came out completely. They do sell them separate on the ExtremeFlight website but they are out of stock.

Can anyone recommend a suitable in stock replacement? I've been taping it shut but I hate the way it pulls the covering off.

I guess I was hoping to get bye a little cheaper using a motor I already had , but on the other hand I don't want to compromise the performance of this beautiful bird !
