Manual gearbox oil can be found in 70 up to 90 weight, check your local shop.

I see gear oil at Wal-Mart still with 70 or 80 weight or more sometimes. I haven't really looked recently though. Harley Davidson Transmission or gear oil works well too as it is 70 or 80 weight as well. Sometimes you look for the oil they use in the rear differential drive for a automobile or truck.

The last time I bought 70wt I bought some mail-order from Custom Chrome. 60 wt is usually available from Harley shops. I think the old Knuckleheads used 70 wt.

Please be aware that 70wt gear oil does not have the same viscosity as 70wt crankcase oil. Check your local airport for SAE60 or 70 non-detergent crankcase oils.

Nice engines. Dang, that must've been some heavy junk on that table, I was waiting for it to blow into your neighbor's yard. Makes my RR1 look like a tiny toy.

Hey RknRusty, sorry about the very late reply.
Thanks for the compliment, it's bolted to the wall!
I see from your avatar that we're both Douglas Adams nuts too!

Wow, Hi, Panther. I just can't pass an engine without stopping to look. You caught me again on the same hook, Lol. Still a good video of some really nice machines.

And yes, I love Douglas Adams. You can't write Sci Fi that's that off the wall and funny without really understanding science. I was very sad to hear of his early demise.
Take care,
Rusty

Many years ago Douglas Adams came out here for a book signing. I was lucky enough to get my books signed by him at the time.

Vintage Engines Running

I have posted dozens of these video's on YouTube, including some very old and rare diesels.

Here is something a little unusual that I like.

Nice collection, Earl.
Those diesels have a really sweet sound. I especially like the Parra too.

How's the bottom end of that Fox hold up to the punishment of diesel combustion, did you swap in a hardened crank and con-rod?

No compression adjustment on the Drone?

Fiery, I like that type of radial backplate. I use those on some Tee Dees, it makes a nice adapter for my Li'l Satan's TD .049.
