If you are running out of battery in flight then you experience this issue then you are are experiencing low voltage cutoff. The default for the Turnigy style clone ESCs is "soft" cutoff, so that is what it is doing, soft cutoff throttles back the ESC to try to keep the voltage from getting too low. If you were to set it to "hard" cutoff then the throttle would cutoff instead.

My questions has still not been answered. What kind of throw like in mm or in are you using for control surfaces? Thanks

Whats anyone's thought about putting this battery in the meteor. Could a 60 amp pro esc from eflite handle this?

That's what I use with the stock setup I get 4 min with a lot of high speed passes

For rates I use the habu setup and it works great

High Rate--------- -------- Low Rate
Aileron: 3/4-inch (19mm)----- 1/2-inch (13mm)
Elevator: 5/8-inch (16mm)----- 1/2-inch (13mm)
Rudder: 1-inch (25mm)----- 3/4-inch (19mm

I promise, just ONE more order

I agree..full stock motor, esc, fan...

I have plenty of EDFs, but this is by far the most efficient setup I have had in an EDF...period. I am amazed. I run using a Value Hobbies 4s 3300mAh 30C pack and regularly get 6 minute flights. I land, taxi back...all in this 90-100* TX heat, and the lipo is still at normal temps! No elevated temp at all. It's a freak of physics I tell you!?! ALL my other EDFs come down with medium to hot lipos. I am not just floating around during the flight either.
This is one of my all time favorite planes to take to the field with me. IT just flies great.

instead of spending money on a 5s why don' tyou spend them on a 2w-20 HEt motor and a HET6904 and have the same results or even better on 4s ?

P.S. : Man I should have been a financial advisor :P

5S on the stock Metoer setup pulls between 55-59A as stated by several users. I also believe the stock setup on 5S would be decently faster than a 2W-20 on 4S and be more efficient to boot .

RCplanes, I dont believe so. There should be more than enough room to move the pack around as needed. I have my 4S 4000 30C set about mid bay so there should be no issue. I would think the 5S may need to be towards the back of the bay but still easily doable.

Jason

P.S. One of my flying buddies threw the gauntlet down on my previous statement about the stock meteor being faster on 5S than a 2W-20 in a 6904 on 4S. So keep your eyes out as there is a race to follow .

sorry I never saw that. I personally doubt it ofcourse since the stock fan is said to be way off balance but.. I would still have to wait and see
on another argument if you got many 4s packs what does it cost more? buy 3 5s packs or buy the new powersystem which can go in otherplanes too.
if you already have 5S packs then get the 2w-23 with the het fan and see if you can beat that

Pavcon, We shall see what she can do against a 2W-20 . Me personally I am mid battery replacement cycle so picking up a few cheap 5S packs makes no difference. As far as balancing I balanced mine so its rather smooth. It has 1 rough spot as many have stated after balancing. If the fan blows she will get a Wemo or HET as a replacement. I work with what I have and adjust accordingly. Who knows there might be 5S birds might be in my future.
