I tried to go through the thread but there are 163 pages... not that I am lazy but it's an awful amount of info.

If one of you golden hearted pilots could point me to a specific post that summarizes the thread that would be amazing.

Thank you soooo much.
search this thread for "elevator mod"
the elevator throw is low so you have to cut a little foam to allow the push rod to move further, resulting in larger movement of the elevator

no need to do any other modifications, your plane is ready to go

Yep, just the "elevator mod"... a MUST DO.
The stock landing gear is good enough and works great. It can be airborne easy within the length of a cricket pitch (22metres). It is an EASY flier, so just get the CofG approximately right and you will have no problems at all. Nothing to be in fear about.

Just do some slow 'landing pass fly bys' as soon as you have trimmed it, so you know the landing process - distances, speeds. Landing is not hard but with all planes you just need to know how they glide and lose speed (or not), so you can plan your circuits into approach and landing.
It is a great plane!! It does what it should, and does it nicely. You will love it for sure.

Hi guys,

searched for elevator mod and the only thing I could find is to xacto the foam a bit around the elevator rods to increase its range of motion.

Is that it?

i also installed a higher torque metal gear servo for the elevator. This may not be necessary

Good luck

Easy EDF to fly, don't get too slow during loops (at low level), use enough expo on the ailerons (they are quite responsive), don't bring her in too fast for the landing as she can fly quite slow and the stall is kinda gentle. If you bounce either you were too fast, or had too high a rate of descent... go around and try again.

Enjoy the Meteor, probably the best value for the money EDF around

Hi all
I just joined the Meteor Storm....
Placed my order with Grayson. Hope to get some decent weather to fly it or will have to wait till spring. Figure I will fly it stock for a while then maybe jump to 5 cell as depicted in this thread (read the whole thing) but I am up in the air about the stock motor handling it. Seems hit and miss. Motor upgrade should take care of it I guess. Small price to pay really. Anyway, looking forward to it!

Looks like delivery will be Monday for my Meteor.
I have 3 of these batteries....
Turnigy nano-tech 2650mah 4S 25~50C
Do you think they will be sufficient? Flight duration?

My stock original Meteor is still flying well, but I’d like to build a second “uber-Meteor”, no gear – it will launch from a sled and land in the grass. Maybe 6S and someone here can recommend a motor and fan.

I already have a spare airframe, wings, tail,. Etc. from when I bought my first one from Nitroplanes – I bought them “just in case” then after a tip stall on final that broke off the nose I found out how easy the airframe is to repair, so they sit waiting fro a purpose.

Does anyone know why Nitroplanes (which is on my side of the country) who sell all kinds of Dynam models, no longer offers the Meteor?? Looks like only Greyson stocks this model (and the spare parts) in the USA now a days. I still need the plastic base for the vertical stabilizer (and Greyson is out of stock), anyone have suggestions for where to get this?

Grab this Lander fan, it is great... and great value!!
Google for a Buddy Code and it is then $66. A bargain price for a high power alloy unit!

I have one for my second Meteor but have not had time to build that up yet.

Fan/motor combo - looks like a good bargin! When you tested yours, was the 'factor balancing' up to snuff?

And Peter, I think it's time you came clean and told us just exactly how many RC panes do reside in your hanger :-)

It is a very nice fan unit... balanced well. And very good power too.
So $66 is a big bargain!
I sort of want to pull it down and check over everything... but I would rather not, so I am trusting in Lander! LOL

I had the 5 blade version and it seemed good. "Seemed" because it never made it into a plane! It has a bit more power than this 10 blade one.

But I ruined that when I stripped it down to make it a CS10 rotor version! It all seemed fine.... balanced as usual....2550kv, ran fine on 4S... but on 5S when I wound it up it went 'Brrrrttt" as the fan jammed in the housing, with a bent motor shaft! They only use 3.17mm motor shafts - in the 5 and 10 blade units. 3.17mm is WEAK! But fine if things are well balanced - WELL balanced.
Maybe mine was not well balanced.... but I thought it was. And had done the slow build ups to higher RPM's to monitor that. So I am not totally sure what went amiss to cause that.... but that motor is out of action until I find a way to re-shaft it.

Well..... 28 planes at the moment. But 4 are not built.... and probably 6 that I have not finished 'improving'/modding to my required standard for 'assured good flying, ongoing survival and safety'. hehe So about 18 flying ones is enough at any on time! Well, probably even 6 or 7 is enough....

I actually THREW ONE OUT finally the other day!! They ALWAYS get repaired....

One of the best little EDF's there are... the HobbyKing 800mm Mig-15 50mm jet!! Flies fantastic and sounds fantastic - CS10 like jet-whoosh, from its 50mm 5 blade. Which I then upgraded to a 55mm plastic 5 blade - for more speed.
After 55 (?? probably that many!!) crashes, mainly from being silly at low altitudes, it hit a light pole heavily and was not worth trying to repair. R.I.P.
I will get another!

But I did replace it with a T-45 64mm (I will use 70mm) BAE Hawk.... which is not a good kit at all. Boo.
So poorly designed/made that I have stopped building it for now and will re-assess how to do it 'properly' another day/week... year.....
I should have just grabbed another Mig-15 !!

Or I could have built up the second Meteor..... far more worth the time and effort to do!
