I just want to say that I made my first 5S flight this afternoon and you guys aren't kidding - it turns the Meteor into a MUCH more exciting plane. I have a stock 4S Habu as well. What I love about the 5S isn't the speed so much as the vertical (ballistic) acceleration.
I found myself doing a lot of the maneuver F16s do at airshows, when they start low, slow, high alpha, dirty - kick in the burner, clean up, zoom vertical, and pull over the top. Of course I closed the loop with a high speed low pass. Lots of fun - with a 5S, the Meteor just became my favorite plane in my fleet. I think I'll get another to put on a shelf in case I wreck this one. |

Grayson Hobby - an Atlanta area LHS and they ship mail order as well. Very good service - I've had a couple of shipping snafus but they always make it right.
They are out of stock now, but they have had Meteors at least twice since Christmas. |

Took my Meteor for a spin today. First time in a month or so. It was about an inch of snow on the ground and little windy, 15mph gusting to about 20. Take off was little longer than usual, but the plane didn't care about the wind. It was easier to fly than my prop plane I had with me also. Rob |

Just received my Meteor today. Purchased a receiver ready version from eBay that was already Stateside. Luckily, there was no damage in shipping that other people experienced. I did have to cut away some foam from around the elevator linkage that was causing some binding, and also under the fan, where the motor wires were too short to properly fit in the channel. Other than that, it appears to be a pretty straight forward assembly.
Plan to maiden this weekend. I have 2 2650 4S 40C batteries that I bought for the P.O.S. Hobbyking Sport Jet 70 I buried on maiden a couple of weeks ago. Question is approx how much flight time can I expect running these batteries? My guess is about 4 mins, but does someone have experience flying this jet with similar batteries? Can I expect decent power? |

Purple,
If the first couple of flights go well, order a Grayson Gold 30C 5S 3000 from Grayson Hobby. I was flying with one last weekend and it's just about perfect for performance, balance, and flight time. After 4 minutes of mixed flying (and plenty of vertical) I was still in the high 3.8s per cell. I see you're in Kennesaw, so if you fly at CCRC maybe I'll get to watch your maiden this weekend! |

I get dead on 5.00 mins, for 2500 used out of 3000 on 5S. I fly something like 50% of the time at 85% throttle (an approximate guess) and the rest at 100% throttle!! Why fly slow at all ever??? LOL
I fly it three times a day - almost every morning before work (amongst 3 or 4 other planes I take). I wonder how long it is going to last - the motor on 5S at those long term high throttle levels.....? |

Peter, Mine flies WOT 85% of the time and the rest of the time are short breaks for the motor at like 50%. So pretty much the inverse of you and she gets 2-3 flights per outing. But at the rate you state you fly you will find out the life span much sooner than me . Hopefully its a decent life span. Replacement is cheap enough as far as the motor is concerned.
