San Diego Slopers thread.

All things San Diego slopers related.

Kevin, here is Torrey North. Just north of the Carmel Valley Rd./PCH intersection.

Bob, I don't know what the wind conditions are like at Sunset, so I don't know when would be a good time. Maybe Tenover could let us know.

My sister and brother-in-law live in San Diego, pretty close to Sunset Cliffs. I think I've seen the spot where that NCFM movie "Hittin' The Bowl" was filmed. Looks like a fun spot. I'll have to come down and visit...I gave my brother-in-law a taste of the Wizzle and he's hooked. He's literally begging me to come down and hook him up...and they try to say slope soaring is not an addiction! I feel like such a pusher..."Hey man, the first flight is free..."

I'm going to go down to torrey north I think sat. If that isn't happening....then I'll try sunset cliffs...
I flew last afternoon at Blossom Valley hill and it was unbelievable! There were 4 "jellyfish" there also but they didn't bother me or get in my way and I kept away from them. The hike was a little tiring...I couldn't get my truck all the way up...but it was worth it!!!

characters welcome!

The jellyfish drivers are a pretty decent bunch at Blossom. They keep a close eye on us for lift and show their appreciation by more or less staying out of our RC "window" straight out from the launch carpets. Good communication is the key. These are pretty much hardcore parasailers, not the rabble you get at Torrey.

I'd like to fly Sunset this weekend, but I don't think it's going to happen. My In-Laws are in town and they are bring ing in some friends who want to learn how to surf "soooooooo baaaaaaaddd", so I think that's what I'll be doing Saturday morning and Sunday morning.....Saturday afternoon is, of course, reserved for the July 4th BBQ. Have fun if you go, and don't hit any cars Surfimp, that's Lil ' Johnny and myself that made the "Hittin The Bowl" video, that's us flying at the spot that SD Flyer posted. I still have to finish my M60, just have to hinge the elevnons and attach the pushrods, and trim.....

I usually go here for the current conditions when I am looking to slope N. Torrey: Torrey Pines Gliderport Weather Sure, the real gliderport is a several miles south, but the wind doesn't seem to mind that.

I finally tried poway a few days ago... I had no idea that was there until recently. Anyone know a good part of that slope to land a non-foamy on gently? I want to get a new toy from Dymond soon

Good LZ at Poway? HAHAHAHAHA LMFAO. I'm sorry. There really isn't such a thing at Poway. I guess the closest would be down by the final turn towards to top.

Blossom has a much better LZ, and you can drive to the top with a truck. If you get a chance try Blossom. It is in between Lake Jennings and El Cap.

Tony.
