I hasten to say that my effort at DS'ing Fermin was unintentional. Due to lack of experience on sharp edged cliff tops and ignorance of the shear on and just behind the lip. Now I know.

On a brighter note I took the wreck home, resisted the urge to bin it and have nearly finished repairing it. .

that's a shame the K100 got totally destroyed, that's the price for a record like that...

Yeah he took it really well. Think he was really happy to have cracked the 350 mark. The next milestone will be a tough one!

Wind speed was about 35kt max gusts, averaging a bit less. We've had more wind there before but less speed, we think the direction must have been absolutely perfect for the hill.

Hi Chris,

Yes I have always been a little confused as to why some of our speed have be called Christchurch as a location. kind of like putting California for weldon or parker speeds etc.

My speeds to change:

9 Dynamic 60/D60 243 Christ Church Jun 23 2012
23 JW 60 134 Christ Church Jun 23 2012
- these are Cass ridge

Also please check post #1188 and #1377 for some speeds that were missed

Wind was 25-45.. "rabbit air" as you guys call it.
I chewed through a hundred laps in some of the worst air I've attempted to DS, stuck
in the 250-300mph range, at least 3-4 Oh moments plus 5 minutes at a time parked
out front waiting for the blown out groove to clear, and and then finally got a bit of continuous sun and
smoother air and jumped from about 270 to 352 in four, maybe 5 laps. I suspect it could have
gone faster, but I was cold and exhausted by then. There's some iPhone vid somewhere
during the run. Have to see how that comes out.

We were really lucky that we managed to bash through the snow to drive to the top, rather than hike
(as we've done the last two years in October) as it gave us more time to wait for good air.

Wow hearty congrats Ian! Great to hear of Jones Pass again - it's just once or twice a year, isn't it?

Your report makes me feel bad that I didn't hang out at Cass Ridge for longer in the big air there when I was in NZ. It sounds like a similar situation ... it was death killer air flying my DSX over the back in 72mph wind, but when you got good air for a coupla laps it was incredible acceleration. What I'm getting at in plain language is I'm jealous of your DSX record! And don't think I'll be threatening it any time soon!

Excellent report and congrats on the new records/pb Daemon. Sounded like an intense flight at an amazing spot, big jump in speed. Can't believe you had to park out the front it was that turbulent. Ballsy just to dive back in when its like that.

I love the Wizard! Thing thing I love the most is it's versatility. You can fly in 20mph all the way up to the unimaginable wind!!!
