Nyet Scratcher :-)
JimZin,
Thanks so much for the suggestion on a scratch build....but....I'm neither a scratch builder, nor do I currently have the facilities to attempt such a project. I have two brothers that are really good at scratch building, but I've never followed in their shoes. I'm thinking that a kit of some sort, accompanied by "good" directions would be the avenue for someone like me. It looks like L.E.G. is one place to go, but I can't get their website up. I've actually done business with them before, and found their instructions entirely lacking. Hopefully they've improved in that area. Do you know of any other manufacturers or suppliers for the Le Fish or the Gold Fish? Thanks for your time. Blessings, Arlen |

There aren't any other suppliers of Le Fish, and so far there is only one Gold Fish in existence in the world. I dont know exactly what your goal is, or what your building experience is -- but here are a couple suggestions: 1. For ease of build, good starter aerobatics, and just general fun, you can't go wrong with either the Alula or Weasel from Dream Flight. The Alula is more of a light-air plane -- depending on your slope it works well in winds of 5 to 20mph or so. The Weasel flies well in 10-25mph, and can be ballasted internally to handle more wind. In comparing the flight characteristics of the two, I usually compare the Alula to a ballerina, while the Weasel has the performance of a gymnast. 2. For a more advanced aerobatic plane, like the Le Fish, you might consider Future Slope Design's new 'Flow' ( http://www.futureslopedesigns.com/Flow.html). While a more complex build, Paige supplies a DVD along with instructions -- a really nice touch, IMO. There's a thread with some of the build clips here, if you want to see what to expect: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1651130 3. You could post a 'Wanted' for a Le Fish on RCG. 4. You can wait for the Le Fish to become available, or could wait for the new Dream Flight 'ultrabatic' plane to become available. Good luck! -= Dave |

Some really good advice Arlen!
As far as the GoldFish is concerned..... It's more typical of glass ships like the Wasabi. Unless I get her a whole lot lighter! I know.... I missed my original design concept completely! Also, they don't bounce well! |

Arlen; Paige's FSD "Flow" would be the route to go. Think of it as an updated variation on Steve Lange's original Fish concept. The kit is very complete including two different horizontal stabs as well as all linkages and cf spars plus the instructions are pretty detailed and well videoed.
I think you'd be quite happy with the plane you ended up with and it is easy to build with a weight range from 20 oz. up to 30+ oz. depending on what conditions you plan to fly her in. Ken |

Thank you!
Dave, Johann, and Ken,
I'm almost overwhelmed with all your kindness, help and suggestions. The FSD Flow does indeed look like the avenue to go for myself. I will check out all of your suggestions, and let you know what I end up doing. At the risk of offending all of my long distance friends, I have to confess that I'm not much of a fan of the "appearance" of the stubby fuze style of the Weasel, the Alula, or the flying wings. I much prefer the more traditional longer fuze style. Being an "old" guy, I guess I have too much 'old school' in my veins I've watched several of the videos on this forum of many of you flying those things, and I also have to confess that you guys are much better pilots than myself. The way you maneuverer those around is indeed impressive, if not frighteningly good Thanks again for all of your responses, suggestions and advise. Blessings, Arlen |

Alula Hater
Apparently Hawks don't like Alulas either This is a very entertaining video. Make sure you watch it all the way through.

Your "old school" airplane preference is noted, Arlen. Just like some guys like biplanes over single wing planes. But I do think you would love an Alula in a 10 mph wind. Regards, -= Dave |

I'm not a huge plank fan Arlen. My personal preference is also something with tail feathers, but you just can't beat it! Some very nice stress free fun on the slope! J |
