Double the wing, 2 sheets of 1/4 foam (blue or pink) and a carbon rod and it will be stiff enough for most power. The canard is stubby enough to be a single layer, the thin carbon in it is good enough.

Profile the leading edge with a 50 degree bevel to a point (cut away the top leading edge) then the trailing edge as flat as you can get it from the bottom to the top of the trailing edge. See the RM airfoil here on RC groups. Keep the canard at 0 degrees to the main wing. This works really well I had mine working like that for a couple of flights with a 2200 3s and 2208 2000kv and 6x4. Unfortunately I dumped it on a launch and never rebuilt it.

Imo this plane is best set up light since it is tricky (at least to me) to launch. The ones I have that are still flyable are 28 inch wingspan with 850 3s and 25g motors.

This one is loosely based on the design, I'm not sure if I posted it here already (sorry if I did) 18 inch wingspan, It flew on a 500mah 2s 15g motor, 5 inch prop, 10a esc, 4.5g servos. It flew great but I doubt I will rebuild this exact design or make it bigger. I would just scale the original to what I wanted with a little bigger elevons.

Marking this for future reference. I got pointed to this with Mike Castillo's posting in the RCAAA group on Facebook (nice plane BTW)! I got pointed to this thread as well as the discussion on HobbyKing's clone (the Orange/Blue Prime Jet which is now at $22.41US + $32.25 Fedex to Canada) which puts it into the NFW (no fricking way!) category.

Just making sure that I've got the right PDF to be using and then will be digging into my Depron stash at home once I get back from vacation)

I've got piles of RCTimer 2826/6 motors/25-amp escs kicking around so this setup is probably what I'll be going with. any comments or suggestions.

I'd like to make a suggestion. The grain direction on the vertical stabilizers should be parallel to the leading edge for the greatest strength. Right now they will be prone to snapping off. If that is not possible, then a cap on the LE and TE will suffice. Balsa's strength is in the direction of the grain, that is column strength.

Just FYI if you weren't aware.
