SJ, cut about 3/4" off it, then lightly rounded off the squared corners to smooth it out a bit. Balanced easily afterwards. All I did to shorten it was to run the motor about 1/2 power and then gently push the prop against concrete. Quick and easy. Eventually removed the stock motor (was running fine & still have it) and installed an Exceed RC Rocket 2215 1300kv. Actually ran good with the stock motor and prop but would break one every so often and only had a few left which I needed to save for my sons F4U. So went to the 800mm 2 blade as they are nearly unbreakable, work well and I had a few of them too. Have the 800mm Mustang, great flyer but that plastic spinner breaks easily so will probably end up with the Rocket or Suppo motor in it to allow use of dubro spinner.

A few pics, batt goes between popsickle sticks. Also cut an opening in the plastic of the engine moulding and in the bottom rear of the fuse for airflow to keep things cool inside.

As promised, my Corsair with the flaky factory paint issue has received its new paint job.

Just deciding if I will keep the yellow strip on the vertical fin...

I have a Master Airscrew 7*6 fitted now, perfect match and it fair howls on the original motor.
Almost sounds like the the "whistling death" on the diving approach!
Unfortunately, I experienced a death spiral close to the ground and broke the wing at the base.
What I have managed to do is to set in some twist and now it needs a few clicks of left aileron to fly level, almost tempted to cut the wing and reglue.
I did try heating up with a hot air gun and twisting while cooling but it has very good memory!
Once trimed up though it stil flys rocket fast and fun!
I always take the yellow tiger moth as well and have a warm up with that first.
For the first time in ages I took out the 1.1m Hellcat and had a great time.
It is slower, but seems to have better scale speed when wound out.

crash new year flying at club


Hi

My 800mm Corair crashed flying at new years flying at club.
Fellow pilots said that maybe wing broke in air?
I was pushing limits of this plane.
I fly with 2210-1400Kv motor and a 8E6 very fast, 3S2200 lipo.

A bit of hot glue and as good as new haha.
I flew again and same as before, now wing are stronger than before jus in case....

Tommy, got a F4u in the same condition, wing root separation but after flying the socks off mine it remains in the junked bin thou I've looked at it a few times I think it is full retirement for this excellent airframe. The A1 is filling the gap left well.
Nice repair and FB yours looks great too!

Great repair Hans, Mine was just the same, but now after 2 major reassembly jobs, I have it nicely dialled in and flights are predictable.
I thinks flaps would be a worth mod though as it comes in fast on gliding approach.
Man, its so fast this one.
Very nice handy work with the spray gun FlyingBy, long may it stay pristine for you!

At first I found it to come in fast on landing too then I tried to see how slow it could come in for landing. I was surprised how slow it could come in without stalling. Actually floats in quite well. You just need to find the stall speed at altitude before trying it on an approach.

I'm looking to get these FMS 800mm... I searched this thread but didn't find it. What type of ESC connector is this for the battery? Still new at this hobby, looking at some 3s 1000 mah batteries for these.

I would suggest changing the esc if you are running 3s. I use these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Lipo_Pack.html and push them as far forward as possible. They work great. They use xt60 connectors so just solder the same to the esc if required.

Do the canopy mod right away too for getting the batteries in.

Believe so. Anyone still looking for 7x6 props for these can get them from Hobby King, they have the FMS Corsair, only theirs is 3 channel...no rudder. I get all my props from them for my 750mm FMS P47, which takes the same prop, and I have to agree that they ARE bullets, mine has an Orange 3 axis stabilizer to calm things down a little on take off, works a dream!
