Jet Legend f-16 (1/8) turbine?

I am building a Jet legend F-16, and the recommended drive is a Jetcat P-60 or P-70. The problem I have is that I live approximately 2000m above sea level so hence have about a 16% drop in efficiency of motors. I am therefor considering a P80-SE for the airframe. Any views or comments about this? Also, the hobbyshops here are consistently recommending only the Kingtech K80's, and I dont know if they are just biassed since they do not stock jetcat?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

One problem with the P-80 is that it's big and heavy for its output. You should look into one of the newer 90N class engines. They are smaller and lighter than a P-70, have quick throttle response, and put out 19-22#.

Check out the Jet Central Rabbit, Merlin 90, Evojet 90, or if you can wait a month or more Wren is coming out with a Wren 100. It's the same size and weight as a Wren 54/70/SuperSport but puts out 22#.

The K80 should do the trick in this airframe "even at altitude" the 1/8 F-16 would fly well @ sea level with a 14-15 lb thrust turbine, so stands to reason the K80 with 18 lb thrust will work well. The Wren Super Sport also would be another option. I dont think you will need anymore thrust to be honest and lack of internal room for fuel would begin to become a factor when going much larger also, the P-80 is to big and thirsty in my opinion.

The K-80 and P-70 are about on par size and and output wise, although I would say from my personal experiences that the K-80 has the edge between the two with its lower residual thrust and slightly better fuel economy over the P-70. Based on these issues the K-80 would get my thumbs up for this project also

Obviously its also important to keep your F-16 light and I would suggest using "tailerons" for primary in-flight controls (dont need ailerons on the F-16) this should save a little weight and aid flight performance....

Cheers- Marty

Wow, thanks guys, your help here was invaluable. After having a look at the recommendations I think that the Jetcentral Rabbit is the way to go.....looks like an awesome turbine. Really appreciate the help

Might post some build pictures soon as soon as it comes back from the paint shop
