New twin EDF Gloster Javelin kit
Hi all,
I am looking to find out if anyone would be interested in a kitset of a Gloster Javelin?, As I have been given permission by Chris Golds, to produce a version of his twin cox powered design. I intend modifying it to twin EDF and making some other small modifications to make it easier to produce. I will post updates as they happen and add more detail on the kitsets and pricing as soon as I have it. Dave. |

Lud,
At this stage the sizing will be the same as Chris's original plan that is wingspan 25" and looking at twin 50mm Wemotec mini fans. As for the single fan arrangement it too could be a possibilty but I would like to start with the twin kits firts and develope the kit from there. Not sure yet on the weight as I am still designing the modifications (will post some pics soon) and talking to potential material suppliers. I will post as soon as the prototype is finished as well to give performance and specs. Dave. |

Damn, I'm well in to drawing up a 24" all balsa version for twin edf40 units (New GWS type). Will yours be all foam build or mix of foam and balsa etc?. I'll hang slack on mine and see how this one turns out. Always fancied the Javelin, well come to that, most 50's to 60's jets.
Good luck with the build. Adrian |

Adrian,
Mostly foam for the kit with some ply and balsa in key places. Dont stop designing as we need more 50s and 60s types being promoted around the worlds flying sites. Dave. |

The Javelin is on my wish list, but as balsa plane for 1x90mm EDF. I started from the same 3view above but I haven't done much on the design yet; have another one on the drawing board first. I found some free plans somewhere at some point and will try to find them again.

Low Pass,
thankfully Chris has done such a great job of the plans that I wont need the three view above to work from. The lack of good detail would make it a lot harder to achieve a suitable kitset. Dave. |

The plan was presented with Radio modeller in May 1992 (at the time an Argus Specialist Publication) I will try to add a pic of the original plan when I can. As far as build threads go there doesnt seem to be much around. Found this but not much to it:- https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...loster+javelin Dave. |

Kit progress,
Ordering the prototype for the kit early next week. Question: Do you think most people prefer the kit with or without EDF units, motors etc, or do they prefer to add their own? Dave |

Anything Chris Golds is cool.
Yeah would be a nice kit! Too small though! single 90 or twin 64-70's IMO Early Brit jets are hot. |
