New HET ME-163 prop jet

I stumbled across this and was astounded with the claimed speed on what seems a basic combo. A 2W-20 on 4S is not that extreme and yet they claim 260kph (160mph)

It looks really nice in the pics and the price is even better.

Ozzi Supercub the Me163 is really a awesome looking plane. I'm sure the speed claims is with a dive, but I would expect around 130mph level flight speeds with a 2w-20.

Gotboostedvr6 the release date is in about 10 days. We will be getting in several of them.

best regards,
William (turbofanelectrics.com)

Very nice, I think 130mph is easy, I think it will be a bit faster level speed.
The 2w-20 with 4s lipo and a speed propp is over 1000 watts.

Colito,

Any info on wing thickness, wing material, batt bay size, motor diameter, or fuselage material?

This runs a 2w-20 at 4s and makes it to 201mph. I wonder if the HET version will take a rocket.

Hello Gotboostedvr6,

The fuselage is fiberglass and the wings are foam sheeted with balsa and then covered. The main spar in this plane is carbon fiber, take note of the pic below, so it should be able to handle some power. The fuselage is wide open so you could fit a 6s 4000mah in there if you wanted. As far as motor selection goes the plane was designed for a motor diameter of 28mm. I will be doing a build thread along with a review on this plane in about 2 weeks; stay tuned.

best regards,
William

Ozzi Supercub,

The ME163 can be handlaunched....no bungee setup required.

The speed claims for the Fox Composites ME163 are true. The guy in the UK has since done over 220 mph which is over 340kph.
Yes it was done after a vertical dive and had a Mega motor 2200 kv and 6s. I think that info is correct. Maybe a 6x6 prop.
The ground speed was over 240mph due to the wind speed.
This was all checked using an Eagle tree so one assumes it is reasonably accurate.
You need big hands to hand launch it or a bungee works well.
Difficult shape to hold so you need to glue on some sandpaper for grip.
The original kits had carbon spars but they were a bit flexible which could cause cracks in the body if subjected to extreme G forces.
Now comes with a 15mm alli spar which is an improvement and a lot cheaper for me. Plus I can buy it in Thailand, the carbon was difficult to get here.
You can always mail me with questions.
Jim
