HELP I AM BEING SET UP!!
maukabud's Avatar
Jeeze you guys don't want much in a UM...

8 engined water landings anyone?

*I* happen to really be grooving on the looks of the new Extra...but I'm an Extra luvah, so...I guess I'm in the minority. It fits my flying style, what I enjoy doing w/ a UM...gym-style 3D/pattern! (hence my 4Site infatuation) But I've also been one of the loudest whiners about crappy brushed motors, so...there ya go!

Methinks I'll get an Extra before the Beast (gasp!)...I'll be the guinea pig. Oink!

$16.99 is likely cheaper then Eflite's stock 2s 120mah pack, and guarenteed to last longer.. This battery will be a HOT ticket when this bird comes out!

Question is whether the dimensions and weight of this new battery work.

You guys need to get out of the Micro forum now and then This is clearly intended as an indoor pattern/F3P micro and as such is unlike anything else in their lineup (the 4Site is 3D, but it's no F3P plane). The milled foam covered with micro film, the side force generators, the giant barn door counter-balanced ailerons... it all points to F3P. Assuming it performs as advertised, it's a significant accomplishment to create an F3P-capable flyer in this size. Regarding the price, it makes sense when you read the spec's. This is milled foam covered with film, so that's a multi-step, labor intensive process. It has a coreless motor versus the brushed motor the other micros (other than the Beast) have. It also has two aileron servos. The 4Site is 130 bucks and has one ailo servo. The servos cost 25 bucks apiece (retail), so that likely accounts for much of the added cost right there.

It's clearly not a plane for everyone, but for those who would like to dabble in F3P it looks to be a great starter plane.

.
Actually, the UM 4Site has two aileron servos. That being said, I think that this plane is no cheapie. The UMX stuff is obviously being targeted more towards serious micro fans, and less the casual flyer. I already have way too many micro 3D planes. Otherwise, I'd be very interested. I'm particularly curious about durability on this one

I think the coat is like the night vapor, should be plenty durable.

I think Extra and 4-Site use the same motor

and the 4-Site have two aileron servos.
The Extra is 3g lighter and will climb faster but have 6% more wing load.

Ohh, NO!! All that talk about how much better the Extra will be and it turns out to have the same motor as the 4-Site?.....BL Beast here I come!

I predict next Christmas HH's line up will have MANY of its Micro's & Blades Brushless. They may even have a Micro Collective Pitch!

Please understand that all these UM motors are coreless.

The 'coreless' armature is hollow and lightweight.

Same old brushed motors.

Excellent info here:

Very excited by the Solo Pro motor mod results so far...

Hmmmm...looks like YOU need to get INTO the Micro forum now and then since your points above are not correct regarding the type of motor, the number of aileron servos, the cost of the airplane, and the cost of the servos....among other things! Sheesh.

If the coat is the same as the night vapor then it would seems to be more durable than the micro 4 site. Micro F3P! I think they should used the micro thunder power battery packs along with a lower price.

I want a UMX Beast AND the new Extra. If some of you could send me some money then some of my dreams can come true.

I have flown a micro P-38 and while it was fun, it was no indoor friendly. I would not mind another.

Can someone post a link or picture to this 300 that is being mentioned. Does HH distribute the micro p-38? Thanks. Nick
