WOWEEEEEEEE!
A UM with a brushless motor (180). Made by Eflite. Just as I was thinking it could be time to replace my 4-Site! Is the AR6400LBL the normal long throw version of the AR6400??? Normally, I usually saw AR6400L for the long throw, so could this be a newer version with the brushless ESC onboard? Very nice find! |

There's really nothing anywhere about a AR6400LBL on the web...
Now crossing fingers that it's really a AR6400L with the brushless ESC built-in. It's driving an Eflite 180 (30W), so it could be 5amps.... No more brushed motors that have a relatively short life. No more "where do I stick that ESC without getting in the way of the servos...." So, let's go AR6400"L"ongthrow"B"rush"L"less Qman, you should change your title to something like: "UM beast by Eflite, now you're talking". Otherwise, in about an hour there will be 3 more threads about this nice plane. BTW, the 180 brushless motor is "ideal for 3D models 2–3 oz (55–85 g), and sport and scale models 3–6 oz (85–170 g)" while the flying weight for this little beast is only 67g. Tons of power! |

Wow a clear canopy! A new RX(fingers crosses), Brushless micro, lipo battery inside the canopy, and it looks like a gws prop! But the flight time is less than the micro t-28 on the specs 6 minutes vs 5 minutes. I think I will pass on the trojan and save up for this brushless micro!

Crikey you were quick off the mark I wonder how long it will be before there's an "Official Parkzone UM Beast Future Owners" thread

The Bl motor is a direct drive(see the pictures). THe micro trojan then should be the last brushed micro made by HH.Wonder how much it would cost? $120? $150? It has to be under $200. Too bad this is a 2S battery. I will have to start to stock up on high quality 2S batteries.

Battery inside the canopy is great because it's hidden. But this is only a 120mah 2S battery, and it does look very thight. Doesn't look like you can enlarge the space by cutting extra foam either. Somehow, I think I would rather have it under the plane, which allow for a better selection of batteries. Currently, I have some 200mah and 360mah batteries, and looking at the picture, even my 200mah do not look like they will fit.... Not even sure two of our 1S batteries would fit either. Not on top of each other, and side by side may be very thight.
But hey, no matter what, it does look like a very nice plane! The next few weeks, or months will be long for sure. |

Another interesting fact...
The prop is a 5 x 2.75 in (127mm x 70mm) almost the same as the Mustang or the 4-Site. Though, it's on a 180 size brushless! When you look at most of the 2S conversions on the existing UM right now, particularly the Sukhoi, quite often a 5030 is used because it's more than powerfull enough. The Beast has a 5027! Most people have used a brushless motor that are way less powerfull than the 180 (saving weight) and have been able to use propeller with way more torque than a 5030 and the results were mind blowing. So, with a brushless 180, I suspect that just changing the propeller will transform the Beast into a rocket. Next step? Attempting 3D at warp speed I guess... |
