There seem to be 7 Kites registered in the UK:

G-ALNI
G-ALNH
G-ALTL
G-ALTK
G-ALUD
G-ALPR
G-ALPH

Plus a mystery N39KK in the US (listed as Slingsby T6)which apparently seats 2 and has 1 engine ????

To show my (almost limitless) ignorance I don't understand why none of them seem to display their registration letters? But there seem to be two in camouflage because there's the one in your link which has banded yellow on the underside of the wings and G-ALNH which has plain yellow.

Gliders were for many years only registered to the British Gliding Association and were required only to display the BGA reg number on the left hand side in letters 1 1/2" high. I have seen several gliders who only had the BGA reg applied using DYMO tape! If you wanted to take your pride and joy to another country then you asked for a class A reg. Life was good.
This went on for many years until in about the mid 80's when the BGA then gave all gliders a three letter reg to display as well as the BGA reg. At the same time you could buy the right to display your very own unique competition number and letter/ number combinations and paint it on the fins and under-surfaces your glider.
Then some bright eurogit in EASA a few years ago demanded that all gliders have a class A reg G-@@@@ but luckily old gliders (known as annexe 2 i.e. exempt) do not have to comply with this euro BS.
The lucky owners of some gliders have class A regs that end with the same three letters as their tri-letter reg...some do not, who now have to repaint in patches and are a militad poked off.
So in a nutshell some glider display anything up to four registrations at one time. Some still only display the BGA number.

Yes indeed Chris - it's Ted Hull's old Kite. Bob wanted to restore it back to that lovely varnished ply finish, but found the underlying ply to be rather, ahem, patchy. So you know that dreadful streaky "woodgrain effect" paint they sell in B&Q. Yep. I can't even bring myself to type the next bit.

Looks OK from a distance though.

Like, from this side of the Atlantic.

P.S. Bob should have asked Peter Chaffe to wrap it in 1/64" ply - he does an amazing job.
