I will be reading your progress on this avidly. I bought an Oracle second hand and I think it is a brilliant piece of kit. But the one you mentioned is for a friend of mine. I wonder how to collect the RSSI signals from the sunskys

It will be an adventure!
The receiver in the picture on RV website looks just like my cheapo HK ones, hopefully they'll work with this.

I took the SS outside to do a little testing. Sun is out but it's really windy so didn't get much done. Microphone is set at about 20% and is mounted in a block of foam rubber, still too loud.
SS first video test (0 min 43 sec)

I'm interested in your progress with the RV diversity and HK receiver. If you don't mind take detail pics as you go. I'm still following in your footsteps

I ordered the completed inverted V from IBC and since the wife needed some stuff from lowes... I picked up the parts to make the patch there...

Good for you, I think you'll enjoy the patch project, I mounted the V with some G-10 circutboard material. I hope being so close to the motor/esc doesn't cause problems.

Mmmm only time will tell, but I am no too sure this is a good place. Don't take my word for it though I am not an expert in RF. The only thing you can do is try

Gosh ! you've got a cool workshop, I just saw your lathe , very nice !

I have a feeling that I'll be moving everything around 2 or 3 times like I did on the NexStar...

I used to be very big into making my own brushless motors, now I can buy a chinese motor for less than the cost of purchasing the magnets to build my own. Best part of my shop is that it's in my basement, heated and air conditioned!

Trying to work out the ground station thing. I want the minimal setup, which would be my 7 inch Haier monitor and Aiptek camera, and the deluxe setup would be the HeadPlay goggles and Sony Camcorder, and Ideally I'd like to be able to run the whole setup at the same time. I've made a shelf for my tripod;

I'm working on arrangment of hardware, this is what I'm thinking.

One wing nut holds the shelf on, if I want minimal I leave if off (hopefully stored in the case with the receiver/antenna). I have a fairly large project box that I will make for a A/V splitter and possibly house the battery for the head plays.

Any thoughts?
Overkill?
Have I gone "over-the-top"
