EJF.com "Venom rc" 70mm F-86 mod thread....
ok....you knew we had to! starting this thread for a build my dad and i are going to do. getting our venom F-86 from ejf.com. beeing the F-86 nuts that we are, were going to do a few upgrades like a scale fiberglass nose cone, and a efficient fiberglass duct for the guys looking for a little more speed and flight time, and it will also allow more room for batteries ect. also, a few other small do it yourself mods planned, and by all means, feel free to post your own mods!

If your going to do all that fiberglass work, why not just build the fuse in it as well.

Here's a short list of things I did this jet as I built it.
I will add to it if needed. 1. Replace all the original stock airhoses. Too stiff and thick they leaked at every connection barb if they had to bend sharply close to the connection. Update 8/24/2010: 2nd batch of kits will have more flexible line included and sept 1 Venom offers free updated hose to anyone who already bought a kit. Nice one Venom! 2. Use epoxy to glue the wings together, the included glue is too weak for that joint after a few flights or hard landings. 3. Stuck retracts? Grind protruding air cylinder shaft flush with T pin if your retracts stick in the retracted position. Heres my fix with pictures https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...&postcount=216 4. Replace weak wire struts with either 3mm outrunner motorshafts(perfect fit) and grind notches or flats where needed or you can use 1/8(3.17mm) wire (you'll need to drill the retract holes larger out to fit and cut the notches/flats too) 5.Optional, but I ran the elevator rods UNDER the stabs instead of over, purely cosmetic but it had to be done! |

Mine sounds pretty good all the way through its RPM range, except for a little crustiness as I start to come up past idle. Other than that, it sounds pretty smooth to me.
